Choice of Thyroxine

Hi. For the past 11 weeks I have been talking Crescent Pharma Ltd thyroxine and been fine after first been given this by the hospital. Was given something else but after taking 5 days of it, found I couldn't sleep so asked for the original medication. My husband went to pick up my prescription and was told that it would probably only be a couple more prescriptions that I will be able to have this one as they were running out as NHS England only give the other one.

unlikely to be true.

Which brand was the new Levo?

Teva brand in particular upsets many people….but for others it’s often the best option

You can ask GP to add note to all future prescriptions

Either saying …for example “No Teva”

Or you can request GP specify brand in first line of prescription

Eg.

Crescent Levothyroxine only

When brand is specified pharmacy get full reimbursement for cost of procurement
