Liothyronine T3

Hi

Just collected my NHS Liothyronine T3 and they are 20mg. I normally cut in 2 as my dosage is only 10mg. The instructions say ‘take half a tablet once a day - and discard the remaining half’ !!??? Is this not just pure wastage or am I missing something?

I wouldn't toss perfectly good medication. T3 is like gold dust.

I would also renew your prescription as normal despite you will end up with extra by not throwing it away. Who knows when you might need it

I've seen this "advice" being quoted before. It is extraordinarily wasteful. I take T3 and I cut my tablets in half with a scalpel. I do NOT throw the halves out, I use them. I've been doing this for years, and have not had any problems with doing this.

Some people prefer pill cutters to cut their tablets. I prefer a scalpel.
