Overmedicated? Test results

I wonder if I could be overmedicated because I feel exhausted, nervous and a lot of bowel movements. I can’t handle any kind of stress anymore.

Any advice ?

My new endocrinologist only tested tsh and ft4.

TSH: 2 (0.27-4.2)

FT4: 18 (11-24)

Morning cortisol : 27.8 (4.8-19.5)

Free morning cortisol: 14.8 (2-12)

Prolactin: 56.2 (4.8-23.3)

Total cholesterol: 212 (<190)

With a TSH of 2 and FT4 only 54% of range I'd say you were under replaced.

Suggest you get full testing - TSH, FT4 & FT3 run and start a new post with results.

Well that high cholesterol is suggesting that your FT3 is too low, so you're probably a poor converter. Your high-ish TSH backs that up. But just testing TSH and FT4 is never going to tell you that for certans, so, yes, you do need to get full thyroid testing, including the FT3.

Have you had your antibodies tested?

Ok, i will do that. Yes i have hashimoto. Antibodies were 120. I have been diagnosed in 2022.

Hashi's people are often poor converters.

I’m not a cortisol expert… but it’s clear to see yours are both above range. Have you looked into that?

No, not yet, i have agoraphobia and for the test I had to go to a new place, I was really anxious, I think that was the reason..

Can you order an at home 5-point saliva cortisol test where you live?

Those are easily done at home, and usually available by mail. Can you buy in Belgium?

Yes i think so. I have thought about Cushing’s last week. But high cortisol is maybe from too low t3 ?

Underactive thyroid can absolutely dysregulate your adrenals and cortisol. For many of us, once we get our thyroid levels closer to optimal, then the adrenals are able to normalize.

For me, getting the saliva cortisol test was part of my journey to rule things or rule things in.

As it turns out, all along, it’s been down to underactive thyroid (now nearly optimized ) and lingering iron anemia.

So the cortisol test was in the earlier days when I was so underwater across the board, and the result (normal enough I determined) was enough to make me comfortable to just focus on my thyroid and key vitamins.

For you, it might also give you a good baseline check… or perhaps reveal something to look into, or not! But good to know either way I think.

You can purchased a cortisol 4 point saliva test in Belgium. That would tell you exactly how your doing. It's expensive though it's online.

They don't do one here in France but my GP always tests FT3 which you need.

Ok, i will look into it. Thanks. I’m upset this new endo didnt test ft3. He has a private clinic, very fancy, I thought he was going to be the answer to my issues. He prescribed an ssri and the keto diet. 😎

I don't like doctors at all and treat myself as much as possible now.

I am lucky in that I don't have gut or Hashi problems. Your endo should have tested he/she sounds pretty useless no T3, the most important one.

Surgeons, GP's and Endos very a lot very hit and miss. I would be upset too let's hope you can sort it out soon.
