Switch from Teva to Vencamil?

Hello

I have been on 75mg of Teva for a few years. I just picked up my new prescription and I have been given Vencamil instead. I'm wondering about the difference between Levothyroxine and Levothyroxine sodium? Also wondering if I should just go with it and give the vencamil a go, or whether to ask to be switched back and avoid any possible issue. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks so much. 😊

Generally people have an issue with Teva whereas Vencamil has no mannitol or acacia so preferred by many.... me included!

Lots of positive opinions but some are not so happy. Which is almost inevitable.

I prefer it to any other UK licensed levothyroxine that I have tried.

I too have been on Teva for years and seem to tolerate it well. About 6 months ago, I was delivered Accord instead from Pharmacy2U. Two weeks into the course, I suffered crippling constipation. The doctor has now put ‘Teva only’ on my records.

Thank-you for your reply - I'm sorry you had such a negative experience. It seems from everything I've read on here that the chances are that my experience with Vencamil should be fine but that if I do experience any negative effect I will know that it's not unusual following a change of brand and will then ask my GP to put 'Teva only' on my record. 😊
