Aristo Vencamil - new dosages soon

I have just heard from Aristo in the UK re new dosages of Vencamil (levothyroxine):

I wanted to keep you informed that we have finally received positive news from the MHRA that the other strengths of Vencamil have been approved. Based on manufacturing time and supply of raw materials we are anticipating the 75 mcg Vencamil strength will be available in July 2024 with the 25 mcg and 50 mcg following on shortly after.

We will inform pharmacists and others nearer the time but, as always, we hope by keeping you informed it will also help spread this news.

We no longer have stock or supply any of our original levothyroxine generic product so, the only way of guaranteeing receiving our formulation is to ask for our product to be prescribed by brand – Vencamil.

For your information we do also still intend to bring a 12.5mcg Vencamil strength to market but this is a separate approval which is currently still with MHRA.

I am absolutely delighted.

You can find some of the products documents on the MHRA site using this search:

products.mhra.gov.uk/search...

ADDING:

My UK medicines document has been updated and has the date/time as below

Last updated Thursday, 22 February 2024 11:45

Some details not yet available and will be added when known.

helvella, thanks very much for the update. I can't wait for the 25mcgm tabs, see that is a while off. My current dose is 112.5mcgm and cutting 100mcgm tab into quarters is an absolute pain and then I have to remember to take a quarter every other day!!

In theory, you don't need to wait for the 25 tablets.

One and a half 75 tablets gives you 112.5.

They might not arrive much earlier than the 25 and 50 tablets but, if there is a reasonable gap between 75 and 25/50, it gives you another possibility. :-)

Thanks helvella, hadn't thought of that. Bit early in the day for my maths brain to function😆
