Help with blood results please

I got my blood results yesterday and have a couple of queries.

Firstly Thyroid: I take 25mcg T3/75mcg T4

TSH 0.02 - 4.78 =0.02

T4 .89-1.76 =1.09

T3 2.30-4,20 =4.22

My T3 is a little over range and I'm wondering if this is why I'm always hot, sometimes very uncomfortably so. Living in Spain doesn't help!

Secondly, my CRP and Homocysteine levels are both very high, which is something I need to sort ASAP.

CRP <0.33 = 0.77

Homo 3.70 -13.90 13.66

I know this indicates high levels of inflammation but I'm not sure how to rectify this as I already have a good diet, don't drink much etc.

I am going to get Folic Acid but other than that I am open to suggestions.

Thanks a lot 😊

Free T4 (fT4) 1.08 pmol/L (.89 - 1.76)

Ft4 only 21.8% through range

Free T3 (fT3) 4.22 pmol/L (2.30 - 4.20)

Ft3 is high 101.1%

was test early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

T3 ….day before test split T3 as 2 or 3 smaller doses spread through the day, with last 1/4 tablet approximately 8-12 hours before test

If test was advised…..suggest you look at small increase in Levo and small reduction in T3

Perhaps increase Levo to 87.5mcg daily and reduce T3 by 1/4 tablet (6.25mcg)

What were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 results?

Yes to all of the above 😊 Do you think juggling my T3/T4 might stop me feeling so hot? Everybody is togged up in padded jackets at the moment so I get some strange looks when I'm in a t shirt and sandals!

Vit D was 82.20 (20 - 100) I take 9000 iu per day.

B12 was 762 (211-911) so a bit low. I take 500ug per day.

Thanks.

Vitamin D is presumably ng/ml so result is too high

Suggest you reduce vitamin D to 5000iu daily

Aiming for 100nml (U.K. units) that’s 40ng/ml in EU units

Are you taking daily vitamin B complex

If yes, you don’t need extra B12 as well

your serum B12 is over 500 so you should be able to reduce then stop the B12 and just carry on with the B Complex.

If Vegetarian or vegan may need ongoing separate B12 few times a week

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Igennus B complex popular option. Nice small tablets. Most people only find they need one per day. But a few people find it’s not high enough dose and may need 2 per day and/or may need separate methyl folate couple times a week

Post discussing different B complex

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule) Thorne can be difficult to find at reasonable price, should be around £20-£25. iherb.com often have in stock. Or try ebay

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 5-7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

endocrinenews.endocrine.org...

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg)

Ft4 and Ft3 look out of balance

Try reducing T3 by 1/4 of a tablet and small increase in Levo to 87.5mcg daily

I'm sorry I don't really understand what you mean about D3. I always get confused re different measuring systems for supplements. The D3 is measured in ng/ml but the results show "Sufficient 20-100" so I thought 82.20 would be OK? Since I started taking a large dose, I feel 100% better so I don't really want to reduce it if I don't have to.

Yes I take a B complex (and stopped for 2 weeks prior to testing). Again as the results show the range as 211-911 I thought 762 was a bit low?

Unfortunately due to living in Spain it's hard to get UK brands but I have managed to get decent European ones.

82.2 ng/ml equals 205nmol

We usually recommend 100-150nmol maximum

Continuing to take high dose vitamin D means levels wi go on increasing and could lead to toxic levels

Yes I get that but according to the guidelines, 82.2 is within range using their system so how is it too much?

Interesting info that too much vitamin D can be an issue

Vitamin D over 200nmol ( 80ngml )

Too much vitamin D will affect gut bacteria/biome

Taking too much vitamin D is not a good idea

chriskresser.com/vitamin-d-...

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Personally I would keep it under 150nmol

That’s 60ng/ml
