Hello all, hope you’re all having a good day and symptoms are manageable!
Please, I gently ask, could someone help me upon the following:
I am going to do my Blue Horizon Six Cortisol Saliva Testing tomorrow (I attach a photograph of the information from Blue Horizon about the timing of the test).
I wondered should I do my first saliva sample away from my levothyroxine and liothyronine medications? To clarify further, so I wake up, drink enough water, don’t brush teeth, do first saliva test 30 minutes after I have woken up, then after I have taken my first saliva sample then take my thyroid medications? I cannot remember if liothyronine impacts on cortisol, so I thought taking my medication after and away from the first sample may be best!
Any thoughts and help would be so greatly appreciated! So sorry for the late post!
Hugs to all!! God bless! ✝️🙏🏼🌹💐🌺🌸🌼🪻🪷

Thank you so much FallingInReverse for all your charity and kindness in helping me! I took my thyroid medications some time after my first cortisol saliva test, so thank you for reassuring me!
I honestly think what you’ve stated makes a lot of sense! However, I must confess I find the cortisol saliva testing a bit confusing because I am noticing differences in how the test is performed. When I read “Stop The Thyroid Madness” book (pg. 60 - I’ll attach a photo below), it stated how they freeze each vial (each testing tube) but Blue Horizon laboratories do not require me to do this (please see second photo below). So I decided to follow Blue Horizon’s instructions for how they want the testing performed and then I may do another cortisol saliva testing with another laboratory!
Interestingly, I felt terrible first waking up (which correlates with what you said about testing), then felt my symptoms improving upon drinking lots of water (thinking I needed to get super hydrated to make spit), so I think I may have spiked my cortisol from drinking too much cold water, woops! Therefore my first saliva cortisol sample may not be a good representation of my morning cortisol level, I don’t know! So repeating with another laboratory may be a good idea?
Well it’s all a learning curve, I still feel like a novice with all the thyroid things so thanks a million for sharing knowledge with me!! Hope you have a beautiful day! 🌹🌺🌸🌼
