These are my latest blood test results taken privately by monitor my health. I have to redo the TPO antibody test as I really struggled getting enough blood. Could I have comments please

was this test early morning and last dose Levo 24 hours before test

Free T4 (fT4) 21.3 pmol/L (12 - 22)

Ft4 93.0% through range

Free T3 (fT3) 3.9 pmol/L (3.1 - 6.8)

Ft3 only 21.6% through range

So very poor conversion rate of Ft4 to Ft3

You need to test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin

What vitamin supplements are you taking

Important to maintain GOOD vitamin levels for good conversion

Lower vitamin levels also much more common as we get older

Yes I did test at 9am leaving 24hrs after levo

I take a multi vitamin ,fish oil , D, & acidophilus. I’ve recently started collagen powder & magnesium citrate 100 mg & slept so much better with the magnesium but just googled it and read it stops levo from working !! I can’t win !! I had my B12 & folate last tested in June and they are both high as follows

Ok

Many, many members take magnesium

It’s absolutely fine to take but must be taken at least 4 hours away from levothyroxine

If you take levothyroxine at bedtime take magnesium early evening

Multivitamins never recommended on here

Most contain iodine not recommended on Levo

Never take iron unless tested full iron panel and found to need it

Stop multivitamins

Test vitamin levels at least a week later

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 5-7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12 if last test result serum B12 was below 500 or active B12 (private test) under 70:

It’s normal to have high B12 if taking supplements

I don’t take bit B but since my salt levels have been on the low side of normal I’ve been having an oxo cube in hot water but I stopped that a couple of days before test

Thanks so much slow dragon I really appreciate your advice

Ive got a referral letter from my gp to see an endo about low salt
