it has no officially declared thyroid hormone content , and is sold as a supplement, but you can tell if it's a placebo by looking at changes in your fT3 / fT4 / TSH results ... if it was merely a placebo , they wouldn't improve. There are several people on here who use it successfully , but like anything , it doesn't suit everyone .
i get confused with the metavive sizes as i don't use it myself ,( i take levo plus a bit of T3 ) so can't comment on the metavive IV compared to their other sizes.
But to see if it is working for you you need to be testing TSH / fT4 / fT3 .
if you can post recent / previous results for theses , you'll get better answers .
Metavive definitely isn’t a placebo and used correctly will affect your thyroid hormones in a positive way. If you don’t know what you’re doing you can get into an awful tangle with it which of course will affect your view on the product. If your core nutrients and adrenals are in poor shape you could end up feeling very unwell by taking it
It would’ve been a good idea to get a comprehensive thyroid function test prior to starting it to enable accurate tracking of what’s happening to your blood levels. I would suggest you do a check soon because you’re on a fair dose and without knowing your current levels it’s impossible to say whether it’s too much or too little for you as an individual with your unique set of needs
IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 5-7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results
In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12 if taking
Metavive is a non prescription OTC ' supplement ' which gets very good results for very many people.
The closest medical graded thyroid hormone replacement option to Metavive would be Natural Desiccated Thyroid - which is no longer available on the NHS to new patients -
due to cost - with Big Pharma's synthetic T3 and T4 treatment options being much cheaper and easier to produce in volume.
Contains details of all known desiccated thyroid products including information about several products not considered to be Natural Desiccated Thyroid (NDT/Desiccated Thyroid Extract/DTE).
