This has increased to long duration over last 9 months . Any suggestions? I eat early at night, at least 4 hours b4 bed. Get it at other times after meals despite careful eating . My TSH is 0.05, up from 0.03 since I reduced by going to alternate 125/100 from 125 daily levo. T4 was just over range. Nothing else tested . Tips for getting rid of this discomfort would be appreciated. I take over the counter remedy indigestion tabs away from levo dosage time .

Heartburn 6 hours a day
I used to have oesophagitis and took Ranitidine for a year. This drug is now banned but it did the trick. Have you seen a doctor about it? Everything is blamed on the thyroid but in some cases it could be caused by something else
Could be you have low stomach acid, and your OTC remedies are just making things worse by lowering the acid even further. Have a look at this and take the test:

Thanks will trot to shops and buy some baking soda.
Yes it could be that but it might be something else I would see the doctor
Doctors don't believe in low stomach acid. For them it always has to be high stomach acid and they want to prescribe PPIs. Which as well as making the problem worse carry all sorts of other risks. So, far more sensible to rule out the obvious (to us) first before seeing a doctor.
Having gone through this for a long time myself I understand how you are feeling. Here's what I did.... my big problem was drinking carbonated water so that had to stop, no tomatoes, no oranges, no curries and chocolate too. I ate a very bland diet for a while until my esophagus healed. When it healed I avoided all the above for quite some time. I do take them now occasionally. Mine all started one Christmas when I bought a big box of those smaller oranges - they were so tasty and I probably ate too many. This was a big trigger for me. I was put on Omeprazole which made me worse so I came off it and just worked with my diet. My gut has healed, I don't experience the same discomfort as I once did. I very rarely get indigestion now. So I would say to you - try and look at your diet. I never eat in the evenings now either but I see you do that already. I found gaviscon helped me when I felt really bad. It takes time, but watching your diet will make a difference. Wishing you all the best with it - it's horrible feeling like that all the time.
But as others have said, better to go to your GP and perhaps get checked in case it's something else. I had the endoscopy which showed that I didn't have any ulcers, etc, so that gave me the confidence to work with my diet.
When did you sneak into my field and take a pic of Doris?
If you find you have low stomach acid, try this:-
Try a puddingspoon full of cider vinegar with a teaspoon of honey stirred through - you have to stir for a while, and you can add a splash of hot water to help the honey stir in. Drink as soon as you feel the burn start. I find it switches it off for the full day.
Hope this works for you.
