my results! What this mean? New results for Thyroid Peroxidase Ab in pic attached. In panic mode and new to this but recently diagnosed with hyperthyroidism

Do you know for sure if its Graves or Hashimoto's causing your current symptoms?

Hyper symptoms are horrible, I feel for you, I have Hashimoto's and have had transient Hyper on and off since I was about 14 and am now 50.

What did your Endo say?

thanks for replying. So Gp just tested the above and liver (which is fine) can I have hashimotos with overactive thyroid? I am so new to his so finding I all quite hard to understand. Seeing Endo on Tuesday privately.

Well done getting the Endo appointment, so yes depending on which combinations of antibodies you have TPO can appear in both Hashimoto's and Graves, you will want the Endo to help figure out which it is that you have and treat you accordingly.

Have you ever had episodes like this before?

It’s come out of nowhere, within last month I’ve been having sweats and my hair falling out and rapid heart rate. I did have a viral infection and it kind of went from there. I had my TSH measured in oct 23 and it was fine. I had it tested as I was very tired all the time. Does my TPO result seem really high?

Next step test TSI and Trab for Graves’ disease

So went to see Endo today and she ordered the trab blood test and not TSI and I forgot to ask why she’s not doing that. Is there a difference? She said she thinks graves or Thyroiditis (I think that’s what she said)

They generally only do one or the other TSI or Trab

TSI specifically stimulate the thyroid. TRab might stimulate, but they might block.

There is also some degree of companies using the names they want rather than an agreed scientific name!
