Gut Microbiome Tests. B Horizon or Genova? Advice please

Hi All,

Im still looking for the answer..... does anyone have any experience of these, the info is overwhelming and I cant afford to make the wrong decision ,health wise or financially.

Along with DIO2+, MTHFR ,+ CFS there has always been gut inflammation ,unexplained flat villi, (gluten free 18mths prior to endoscopy) chronic malabsorbtion, multiple food sensitivities.

I believe the gut is key to everything. Im just about to redo H Pylori 10 years on,previously negative, PA neg.... I do believe there is a B12 uptake issue , but having supplemented with B Complex for more than 20 years I would expect results to be flawed.

I can not do without B12 supplements for more than 6 weeks let alone 6 months for a valid B12 test.

Any thoughts or experience of the Gut Microbiome tests would be greatly appreciated.

Every best wish, G.

Gillybean1,

I think the Genova is a bit more comprehensive but you need a practitioner to authorise it. This can be a helpful to interpret results and treat accordingly.

I've has several gut tests and the first evidenced parasites 🤢🤮. I would never have known what to supplement if I hadn't been guided by a practitioner who helped me successfully eliminate them.

However, if you are doing the test on a shoestring then the Blue Horizon looks pretty good and you can always ask others for advice and their experiences regarding the results.

Hello Radd,

Good to hear from you again, I hope you are doing ok ?

Yes Genova does look more comprehensive (sent out to USA too) and I can go through a practitioner which helps a bit financially. Genova give a Test Example Sheet on their website + a guide to what you can do re any results, which helps a bit.

I presume we all have parasites but I guess its a question of prolification and striking a balance with most, and zapping the nasty ones. I think some can be treated with guidance and a strict protocol with caprylic, oregano, clove. I would need advice.

Did you notice a difference in your health post treatment?

Thank you for taking the time to reply, every best wish , G

Gillybean1,

My health completely turned around once gut issues were addressed but I also started T3 meds around the same time.

It wasn't just the parasites but going gluten free, and I seem to remember I had to eat a low histamine diet for a while as well. Also supplemented with gut anti-inflammatory supplements which mad my tummy go flat for the first time in years. Or maybe it was combo of all the treatments 🤷‍♀️.

Hello Radd,

Thank you for your reply. Im glad to hear you got it sorted. I find it a nightmare trying to resolve the gut issues, I just go round and round in circles, and Im just wasting away now at just under 7 stone.

GF, DF, SF, low histamine, no rice or spuds now (hives).

Yes I believe finding the sweet spot is about getting that right tailored combo........Im still looking, but you give me great hope. Thank you.

Every best wish. G
