Hi all, I had few blood tests taken recently which the results were TSH 4.7 (0.27-4.5), FT4 15.4 (11-23), the lab does not test FT3, CRP 19, increased thyroxine from 125mcg to 150 mcg, at the same time due to aches and soreness in muscles and bones I had X Rays for shoulder pains which results where clear doctor suspected PMR so prescribed prednisolone, now after 3 months of increasing and decreasing never getting below 10mcg prednisolone not a vast improvement re aches and pains but now getting very breathless doctor has decided it may not be PMR, I am due to go for other tests ECG, Spirometry and more blood tests. Could this have been a problem with my thyroid from the beginning. Your input/advice would be much appreciated.

CRP very high
Could be due to your PMR?

With high CRP (inflammation) ferritin test result is unreliable as ferritin rises in response to inflammation
It’s possible to have high ferritin but low iron, especially if CRP is high
Test early morning, only water to drink between waking and test. Avoid high iron rich dinner night before test
If taking any iron supplements stop 5-7 days before testing
Medichecks iron panel test
Breathlessness could have many different causes. There is a list here :

.
A common cause of breathlessness on this forum is low levels of iron/ferritin (iron stores) and/or low levels of vitamin B12/folate. I see your folate levels were low on an earlier post of yours. Your ferritin is good, but your high CRP has probably increased that, making your iron results look better than they are. With high CRP and surprisingly high ferritin it is possible that your serum iron is low and you have Anaemia of Chronic Disease (or Chronic Inflammation).

Have you had a Full Blood Count (FBC) done recently? It would be worth checking your White Blood Cell Count, Neutrophils, Lymphocytes, Monocytes, Eosinophils, and Basophils to see if there is any evidence of an infection. For more information on the FBC tests (and others) see :
Recent FBC on 29 August,
White blood cell count 15.1 (Range 4.3-11.2)
Neutrophil count 8.76 (2.1-7.4)
Lymphocyte count 4.86 (1.0-3.6)
Monocyte count 1.20 (0.3-1.0)
Eosinophil count 0.19 (0.02-0.5)
Basophil count 0.05 (0.02-0.1)
I have mentioned to my GP that my mother and twin sister both suffered from pernicious anemia later in life but with my B12 Level OF 909 and Ferritin being 150.4 it was not likely I have anaemia. So on we go with more tests, at least they are being very thorough on the test side of things. Thank you
Anyone thinking Inflammatory Arthritis??
Not mentioned, I do have psoriasis which could cause psoriatic arthritis, who knows, at least they are carrying out more tests.
