You are on Levo……how much are you taking
Do you always get same brand Levo at each prescription
Exactly what vitamin supplements are you taking
Was test early morning and last dose Levo 24 hours before test?
There’s no Ft3 result
TSH is too high for someone on levothyroxine
Folate, ferritin and vitamin D all on low side
Is your hypothyroidism autoimmune
Thank you for your time.
Hashimoto
100 mg - always Teva - I am going to ask if could wean off to 75mg as feel worse at present.
Supplements: Ferrous sulfate, 200 mg, Vitamin B50, Boron, Zinc, MagCitra, Calcium, D3000 + K2
Levothyroxine is REPLACEMENT thyroid hormone because your own thyroid no longer makes Ft4 and Ft3
Your results suggest you likely need slightly HIGHER dose levothyroxine
Teva brand upsets many many people
Are you lactose intolerant
Worth trying different brand
If you need lactose free then request Vencamil brand
Lactose free brands - currently Teva or Vencamil only
Vencamil is lactose free and mannitol free. 100mcg been available couple of years
25mcg and 50mcg tablets now just available summer 2024
March 2023 - Aristo now called Vencamil

Teva makes 25mcg, 50mcg, 75mcg and 100mcg
Many patients do NOT get on well with Teva brand of Levothyroxine.
Teva is lactose free. But Teva contains mannitol as a filler instead of lactose, which seems to be possible cause of problems. Mannitol seems to upset many people, it changes gut biome
Teva is the only brand that makes 75mcg tablet.
So if avoiding Teva for 75mcg dose ask for 25mcg to add to 50mcg or just extra 50mcg tablets to cut in half
But for some people (usually if lactose intolerant, Teva is by far the best option)
Your ferritin is normal but below optimal, which is 90 - 110. You don't need a sledgehammer to fix this just start eating slightly more iron-rich foods. There are lists all over the internet of such foods.
.
Your Vitamin D is normal but below optimal which, depending on where you read, is either 100 - 150, or 125. This link is helpful :

To supplement vitamin D you need D3, not D2. D3 is mostly from animal sources, but there are supplements available which source D3 from lichen if you are vegan or vegetarian. Ideally, D3 supplements should be taken in a small capsule containing just oil and D3 since it is best absorbed with fat. Tablets have a lot of fillers/excipients but no oil/fat.

Your B12 is normal but below optimal. For more details on optimal levels and types of supplements see the following links:

Your folate is not optimal and is too low. We usually suggest that it should be in the upper half of the range, which for your test is approximately 15 - 27. The best form of folate supplement is methylfolate which can be bought on most sites which sell supplements, but please shop around for the best prices.

In your shoes I would want both sodium and potassium to be mid-range or higher in range. Your sodium is just about there but your potassium is a bit low. Look for lists of potassium-rich foods and start eating it a few times a week. Supplementing potassium is possibly a bit over the top with your result, but you can make your own mind up with this link. Read the comments as well - some are them are useful:

On page 2, your results are all fine, except I'm puzzled by your platelets. Your platelet count is 41.2% through the range, i.e. below mid range. But your Mean Platelet Volume (MPV) is above range, which is odd. I've never come across this before. Perhaps your platelets are larger than average? But I don't know what to say about it because I'm not a doctor. You might want to do some research.

You need to improve your ferritin, folate and D. You don’t have iodine levels - that usually tells a story also. You don’t have FT3 levels. Looking at your TSH and T4 levels and given you are on Levo, I would hazard that it’s probably high. This would mean you don’t need more T4. It means you need T3 because you aren’t converting. The higher your FT3, the worse you will feel unfortunately.
Hi, all written by everyone here likely applies and will look into, and also T3 makes sense as for what it helps to function.
Please could clarify:
“It means you need T3 because you aren’t converting. The higher your FT3, the worse you will feel unfortunately.”
Not sure what/how to increase (first) to feel better…🙄
TSH shouldn’t be above 2.5 max or you’ll be having symptoms. Your t4 is high enough. You really need to check your T3 I expect that to be too low as your TSH is too high. You may need to get t3 privately tested. Check monitor my health to do it privately.
Hi,
I normally post on Pernicious Anaemia Society forum on HU.
I can see your serum (total) B12 is quite far up the range although under the upper limit.
621 pg/ml ( range 197 - 771 pg/ml)
Are you taking B12 supplements or having B12 injections or eating lots of B12 rich foods?
It's possible to have B12 deficiency symptoms with a normal or even above range serum B12 result.
If you want to know more about B12 deficiency, have a look at the Pernicious Anaemia Society forum.
