Chorley / Preston Meet up

Hello,

I wondered if anyone with Hashimoto’s/Underactive thyroid would be interested in meeting up as a relaxed support group in the Chorley, Lancashire area.

If there is already a meet-up group organised in the area, please feel free to let me know.

Please share more about your specific thyroid journey. For example, what type and dose of thyroid medication are you currently taking, and does it resolve all your hypothyroid symptoms?

Thank you for the welcome RedApple 😊. I was a member in 2020 when I was poorly with a flare of Hashimoto’s & M.E./Chronic Fatigue Syndrome during lockdown and everyone was very helpful. Once I improved a little, I was in DM contact with someone in the area who used to run meet ups in Chorley however said that they weren’t organising an in-person anymore. I was diagnosed at the age of 14 and put on 125mg of Levothyroxine. I take 100mg now (I’m 39). I have never received any support from doctors / specialists I’ve seen in the UK - perhaps I just haven’t hit on the right ones in 25 years. I believe someone can never fully understand or appreciate the effect / severity a health condition such as an autoimmune condition has on life, unless you have you experienced it. I am grateful for the work of functional medicine practitioners, Dr Mark Hyman and Dr Izabella Wentz, as they have both had / have / manage their autoimmune conditions for this reason.
