Chorley / Preston Meet up

Hello,

I wondered if anyone with Hashimoto’s/Underactive thyroid would be interested in meeting up as a relaxed support group in the Chorley, Lancashire area.

If there is already a meet-up group organised in the area, please feel free to let me know.

Thank you 😊

A list of support groups is available via the TUK office. If you wish to set up a TUK support network in your area, this needs to go through lynmynott

I would very much like to meet up with others with Hashimotos too.😀

I live in the Lancashire area.

Thank you for your message Panoramabear. It would be lovely to meet up. We’ll see if there is anyone else with Hashimoto’s that would like to join us ☺️

Welcome to the forum Auto-heal. As you are brand new to our thyroid support forum, members will appreciate knowing more about you before committing to an in person meet-up.

Please share more about your specific thyroid journey. For example, what type and dose of thyroid medication are you currently taking, and does it resolve all your hypothyroid symptoms?

Thank you for the welcome RedApple 😊. I was a member in 2020 when I was poorly with a flare of Hashimoto’s & M.E./Chronic Fatigue Syndrome during lockdown and everyone was very helpful. Once I improved a little, I was in DM contact with someone in the area who used to run meet ups in Chorley however said that they weren’t organising an in-person anymore. I was diagnosed at the age of 14 and put on 125mg of Levothyroxine. I take 100mg now (I’m 39). I have never received any support from doctors / specialists I’ve seen in the UK - perhaps I just haven’t hit on the right ones in 25 years. I believe someone can never fully understand or appreciate the effect / severity a health condition such as an autoimmune condition has on life, unless you have you experienced it. I am grateful for the work of functional medicine practitioners, Dr Mark Hyman and Dr Izabella Wentz, as they have both had / have / manage their autoimmune conditions for this reason.
