Taking NDT abroad?

I’m going on holiday to the Canary Islands for our first family holiday abroad. Will there be any issue taking my Thyroid-s with me and should I put in hand luggage or case? Thanks everyone!

Just use an old vitamin pill bottle and put in what you require into your hand luggage. I do.

General advice to all who travel with medicines is to check the rules/laws for the specific countries they are going to - or travelling through.

Many countries have advice on their London embassy websites.

If feasible, taking medicines in their original packaging helps to avoid suspicion. And if you have a prescription, take that as well. (Or a photo or a copy.) Obviously you will not have one for Thyroid S!

I get the impression that most tourist destinations don't pose many problems but if they think you are going somewhere that has raves and illegal drug taking, expect more attention!

If you have plenty, it might be a good idea to pack some in hold baggage and some with you. That provides a backup should there be issues with either.

Update. Got through security with no problems, but they were quite busy with some terrible IT disaster! Think the old vitamin bottle is a better idea for next time! Thank you.

The old vitamin bottle will probably work just fine 99 times out of 100.

The only problem is trying to explain if you hit that extremely unlikely event of a customs person actually looking further.

That is why I think that whilst it might be statistically safe, I wouldn't want that to happen to me.
