On ndt

Whilst on holiday in Canada I have managed to get 30mg erfa. Day 2 and taking 15mg at am and same pm. Feel a bit weird in morning but settle down by pm. I read that it's best to chew them, is this right and what difference does it make? Will keep you informed how I get on. Not sure what gp in UK will say!

Sandcastle, did you manage to get it without prescription?

Some people chew NDT before swallowing, they feel breaking the tablet if it is coated aids absorption. Others just swallow.

I went to a walk in clinic. Paid over £50 to see Dr who knew very little about ndt. I was surprised she gave me prescription . It cost me £14.20 for 3months supply (30mg).

I carefully crush the (ERFA) tablet between my front teeth, and push it down between my gum and cheek to let it dissolve there.

Day 4 of erfa and don't feel ill but. Don't feel well either. My moods are up and down. Early days and at only 30mg daily I am probably ready for an increase - maybe next week? I've got bad hay fever so hard to diagnose what's wrong. Feeling optimistic so onwards and upwards

Sandcastle, 4 days isn't long enough for NDT to work. Stay on 1/2 grain for 2 weeks and increase by 1/2 grain every fortnight until on 2 grains. Hold at 2 grains for 4-6 weeks and have a FT3 blood test before increasing further.
