A few weeks ago I posted that I was struggling on 5mg - everything pointed to too higher dose, fair enough so gradually lowered to 2.5mg - I lost my beautiful and beloved Labrador after a cancer battle in early March 💔and attributed a lot of my depression to this devastating loss initially, however, realised I was drinking something with aspartame that might have been causing depression, anxiety, aches and hair loss etc so cut that out - felt better pretty much overnight, but heart rate didn't come down - it's been rather warm here in the UK. However, as stated previously due to a biotin incident I'm not due to have my bloods done now until 4th July, again it is what it is, but I thought maybe my thyroid level had jumped up as well so I upped the meds four days ago back to 5mg (as prescribed by Consultant). I don't feel awful or cold but it's not cold, heart rate has kinda stabilised, but within four days I am already starting to feel fatigued (couldn't do the usual morning walk today), bloated, swelling again (puffy in my face, hands and feet), constipated, and hunger has disappeared again... like it has GONE, and I feel a bit ... woo?! my very minor hand tremors come and go anyway so discounting that. NO symptoms of anxiety or depression since removing aspartame, but my eyes are heavy like I could just nod off again.
The issue I have now is my son is coming home for the summer now he's finished Uni and I'm now concerned he's going to come back to a mummy zombie as I'm gradually starting to feel like sh!t 😭 On very much better news though that amazing young man of mine has just scored an upper second in Astrophysics yes you read that right ASTROPHYSICS?! 😱 (he does NOT get that from me).
Any recommendations of what I try and do in the mean time before the blood test, really not sure what I am actually asking for here especially without blood results but cutting those tiny pills into quarters is a damn nightmare!? even with the pill cutter 🥴 maybe if anyone would like to press a pillow over face? that would be greatly received?! 😂🤷

Don’t feel bad about being zombie mum, he can take care of you.
You have a mix of hyper / hypo symptoms. You know you’re not right but you won’t know exactly what your levels are up to until you test.
I don’t think there is anything you can do right now but take it easy & try not to complicate your dose until you can get an exact reading. Once you have results you’re going to know what to do next.
I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism just 4 days ago and started taking Carbimazole. I have other symptoms like tremors, palpitations, losing weight (lost 3kg in 10 days, total in 5kg that I didnt know when I startes losing weight). I am taking Propranolol for this and been eating every hour (healthy food and less iodine) to avoid losing more weight.
I was feeling down and no energy before too and I guess thats because of faster metabolism due to hyperthyroidism. The more frequent I eat, the better I feel. But it's been less than a week so I can't really tell 😅
I hope you are feeling better now. And sorry for your loss. 😢 We loss our dog in May. The day he passed, I started feeling achy but ignored it. After 2 months, my legs and feet started swelling, thought it's due to hot weather, waited 3 weeks before seeing the GP. 🤦♀️ I don't have energy, always feeling irritable, can't concentrate, hungry all the time and breatheless. I am on 5mg now due to liver complications and will know more next week.
I am quite worried. I don't know how long before it all go back to normal as I can't seem to do and enjoy anything
Thank you and I am sorry for your loss - mines been devastating despite knowing it was on the way, so I really feel for you.
Stress such as a loss like you've suffered can kick start illnesses such as Graves disease, Hyperthyroidism and in some cases like mine it can take a long time (a year so far) to get back on track - but everyone's journey is individual and some see improvements quicker than others. I do not compare my journey to others, just adds more stress for me personally.
If I were to offer any kind of advice I would say give yourself the time, space, kindness and patience you deserve to get yourself back on track, what works for others might not work for you and visa versa. Essentially something has made your body go ARRRRRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHH and it has started frantically attacking everything including itself in response, so we need to to be patient and do the "there there it'll be ok" until it calms down. Stress management has been key for me, but diet has been key for others, etc etc.
I hope you feel better very soon - fingers crossed for you and everyone else out there x
