I have recently been told by Endocrinologist to stop T3 due to palpitations and atrial fibrillation, to increase T4 to 75mcg. This had been reduced by hospital where I went after collapsing with atrial fibrillation. He says rely on that and lifestyle changes. I feel I have been doing that for the last year , with supplements and liver, gut and endocrine support. My recent blood results are TSH 0.477 free T3 3.7 free thyroxine 11.2. The levels are very low. I have the MHTFR gene which makes converting T4 to T3. And I am now beginning to have the symptoms I had 18 months ago and feeling unwell. I am having complementary health support , massage , acupuncture and relaxation support.
Does anyone have similar experience or advice?

I hope someone comes along shortly. As someone who suffers similar with heart symptoms, you have my sympathy.
You are correct everything is low, including your medication.
Just wondering how long you have been ill for? Could you be having a hashi flare? Your thyroid could be dumping lots of extra hormone into your system, making it appear you are hyperthyroid or over medicating. Over medicating sounds unlikely but it’s obviously no good for you in its present form. You need an answer from someone more experienced.
Hopefully my reply will attract attention to your post!
thanks for your reply. I have taken levothyroxine for many years , fairly stable. Then 18 months ago a thyroid crisis as I call it, only helped by a homoeopath who listened to my symptoms . It followed 2 vaccinations, a PET scan which is radiation, back on steroid and increase of methotrexate (which had been for vasculitis /Giant Cell Arteritis) It took a long time , with a private Endocrinologist and T3 to begin to function. Now I have been told to stop! How would you know a Hashimoto flare? Get the antibody test ??
The heart needs a lot of T3. So, your palps and AF are more likely to be caused by lack of it, rather than too much. Palps are very often hypo symptoms. I think you need a second opinion, if not a whole new endo!
I definitely hear what greygoose says about the T3 issue. It’s kind of where I am too. However it’s very difficult (for me) to have enough faith to push on with T3 when the effects are so powerful and frankly unpleasant. I decide to stop it (although because of the issues my private endo refused to further treat me in the first place - no support) while I tried to understand better what the heck was going on. Still not sure but working on it!
