These are my latest and I’m concerned about high ferritin. It’s been over range at least two years since taking high doses of liquid ionic iron for very low ferritin. Sometimes it’s significantly lower than this but always over, lately
Buddy’s post this morning about high dose turmeric piqued my interest and I wonder what your thoughts are. All other labs are very good except for raised liver enzymes and way over range thyroid frees due to over doing Metavive. CRP very low
I feel very well and have experienced a tiny bit of weight loss and sleep ok, mostly
I haven’t finished reading the replies to Buddy’s post but will go back to it now to see if there are any ideas
Thank you all

I’m sure members will have many other suggestions to help lower ferritin levels Noelnoel, but perhaps turmeric is worth considering, as it seems to have lowered my levels.
Don’t know if you’ve seen my posts about trying to lower ferritin but I’ve been successful following a diet called the LIFE diet. Medical research paper photo below. I did actually keep eating a small amount of red meat & sheep’s’ milk yoghurt. My reading of over 400 halved within a few months.
I wanted to reduce as high ferritin is now believed to be involved in the development of diabetes & cateracts.
Mind you taking high dose turmeric might be much easier!
Hi, no idea why ferritin has been high. The article includes details of the diet. Nothing to pay for, just search Google for the title of the article & you should find it. Not the easiest to read but all the information is in there if you go through it.
Generally you need to drink a smoothie including green veg,I usually had lambs lettuce, blueberries, 100% cocoa & linseeds. Recipe in article. Avoid dairy & red meat. Eat legumes every day ie lots of lentil pasta & beans.
Rapid brow is the product. From Amazon. Unfortunately it’s expensive so I did give it up. Some people say castor oil has a similar effect.
The high ferritin was something that was noticeable for years on my blood tests & increasing. Mostly people say it’s a sign of inflammation but I doubted that when my CRP dropped substantially
. Unfortunately the NHS is slow to treat high iron levels so I didn’t get any help. The most obvious way to reduce ferritin is to donate blood but I’m banned from doing that as I had a blood transfusion in 1988 when blood products weren’t strictly tested.
I think that article points out that high ferritin can cause damage much earlier than thought. Cateracts & diabetes for example. I’ve just been diagnosed with cateracts & pre-diabetes. I thought the LIFE diet worth trying & it worked for me. That’s all my story really.
So sorry to hear your recent diagnoses, I hope you can turn the diabetes problem around. It’s very possible and lots of people do
Will write a post about donating blood. Seems on the face of it a good idea so thank you for the suggestion. Thank you also for the name of the brow product
For me, my high ferritin was due to fatty liver disease. Found this out due to routine bloods and raised ALT'S liver enzymes. Ultrasound confirmed NAFLD and gallstones so kindly thrown in too. Also saw hepatologist and had fibroscran. No symptoms with either fatty liver or gallstones and both almost certain due to thyroid issues.
Now hopefully reversed fatty liver and ferritin.
Reverse diet, high protein, eating carbs, weight training, plenty of water, limit alcohol and adding berberine supplement. Now all bloods normal including cholesterols. I have/had classic metabolic syndrome.
Thank for that. I like that you were pro active and reversed it. Impressive
I too have raised liver with early morning discomfort. Several investigations show a normal liver. There’s definitely a problem but currently a mystery
Yes I've worked hard to finally be able to lose some weight and get bloods normal again. Best is a eat more calories and carbs now than last 15 years.
After 5 months of the above lifestyle change and only losing a couple of lb. It was only after starting berberine that things seem to change but due to change and I lost 1lb a month in weight which was unheard of for me. The last 17 months my bloods are now normal. I know diet and weight training will be main factor but knowing I likely have/had insulin resistance berberine can help with this along with all the other issues I have.I can't 100% say berberine helped as I changed t3 brand sane week..but I feel it was the berberine.
I read some pre/diabetics take berberine when they don't want to take metformin.
A newspaper article claiming it was like nature's ozempic 🤦🏼♀️ didn't think for a minute I'd lose weight but when I read it can give you 💩's I just bought it! Being constipated for years I jumped straight in hoping I'd have for me this welcomed side affect...that didn't happen sadly.I only take for 3/4 months then stop. Both Endo and gp know and are happy for me to take.
Could all just be a coincidence but nothing this major has happened to me like this in 20 years. I metabolism is so poor and to lose just 1 lb a month is massive for me. Losing weight obviously brings down all my bloods.

Same here! So frustrating. I eat properly, walk miles, lots of yoga and nada
Last two months though I’ve lost about 7lbs which is highly unusual. Normally manage an ounce here and there. Sadly weightloss has halted since reducing Metavive
None of the other supplements are known to level out blood suger as Berberine does. All are useful in other ways. Berberine works like Metformin. Some people are lucky enough to lose weight on it but it’s not the main purpose.
