how much T3 do you take per day

which dose capsules have you got

How do you want to split…..as 2 or 3 doses

If you want 5mcg doses they should have prescribed 5mcg capsules

Yes it’s possible to open up and split

But instead look at getting tablets either now or next prescription

Also Roma capsules don’t seem to work as well for some people

Tablets Much easier to cut and are cheaper for NHS too

Current prices

Hello SlowDragonI,ve been taking 10mcg of Thybon Henning. 5 in the morning 2.5 in the afternoon and 2.5 in the evening with levo.

I,ve been prescribed Roma 5mcg Capsules. I just wondered if you can just mix the powder with water and drink it? Or take 5 in the morning and 5 evening.

Read the Patient Information Leaflet.

Capsules are taken by mouth. They should be swallowed with a glass of water.

If you have difficulty swallowing a whole capsule, empty the contents of a capsule into a minimum of 20 ml of water. Stir and drink the whole liquid to ensure you take the full dose. It is possible to do this with Liothyronine because this substance is soluble in water.

However, there is no guidance on splitting the dose. Indeed, splitting a small pile of powder accurately is difficult even with an extremely accurate weighing device.

And there is no guidance on how long a the liquid can be kept (e.g. if you split the liquid rather than the powder). Many medicines, including liothyronine tablets, have advised that if it is not used straight-away, it should be discarded.

Thanks Helvella.I might just try taking 1 twice a day.

Slowdragon mentioned that they don't work very well for some people why is that?

Sorry - I missed your reply because you replied to your original post - not (using the blue Reply) to my reply. So I didn't get a notification.

Afraid I really don't know why some don't find the Roma capsules as good as some tablets. Anything I suggested would just be a guess, so of little to no value.
