Results help needed!

Hello I was diagnosed with hashimotos hypothyroidism end of Feb, started on levothyroxine 50mcg, just had repeat blood test after 10 weeks

TSH has gone up from 5.77

Free T4 from 12.6 to 12.7

Ferritin down to 14 from 19 (have been taken ferroglobin capsules)

Vitamin has gone up from 39 to 65 (been having oral spray)

Apparently I need to discuss the results with GP in 4-6 weeks but surely I'm not on the right dose. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you 😊

50mcgs Levo is just a starter dose and one would expect after this test to get a dose raise to 75mcgs Levo then retest in 4-6 weeks.

Sometimes GPs need prompting to do this, so contact your GP surgery tomorrow and ask for a dose raise.

No doubts its frustrating that on paper your numbers have gone up as opposed to down but nothing to be concerned about. Its very early days and healing is not in a straight line. Theres a lot of healing to be done and your body just realises its needing more which is showing in your numbers. All will be well in the end.

Make sure to take your iron 4 hours away from Levo. Take it with orange juice or anything with vit C to help it absorb.

I'm assuming your B12 level has gone up? How long have you been supplementing and what with? You need to add in a good methyl B complex now.

B complex suggestions: Slightly cheaper options with inactive B6:

Contains B6 as P5P an active form:

Thank you very much for your reply, I was feeling a bit deflated with the results. They didn't retest my B12 or folate.

At the end of Feb the results were

B12 445 (187-883) Folate 4.2 (3.1-20.5)

I did purchase the Thorne b complex but haven't taken any yet as I wasn't sure when was a good time or if I even need them

Yes you do need the B complex and will do ongoing from now on. You can start it now and should feel the benefit in a few weeks.

I had to say that I love the graph and am printing it for the front of my progress charts. It is so true and gave me a bit of an uplift just when I needed it too. Thank you and all the best.

Which brand levothyroxine are you taking

Get next increase to 75mcg daily

Retest again in 6-8 weeks

ALWAYS test early morning and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Vitamin levels

please reread carefully all my replies in this previous post to you

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

You need to start daily B12

Add vitamin B complex a week later

Ferritin is deficient

So you are anaemic

GP must do full iron panel test

Obviously your iron supplement needs increase or different type

Many people find Three Arrows iron works well

Levothyroxine must be taken at least 4 hours away from iron, vitamin D tablets and magnesium

Iron supplements at least 2 hours away from other vitamin supplements apart from Vitamin C

Are you now on gluten free diet

HelloI'm not sure on brand I'll have to check.

GP has Just increased dose to 75mcg.

Before last test I didn't take the levo dose until after test.

I was taking levo in morning and ferroglobin night. GP has just prescribed high strength iron tablets. Iron panel was normal.

I've managed to get my vit d up by using theh spray 3000iu so now I'm taking just 1000iu.

I started the thorne B complex yesterday.

Seems like my other results such as magnesium are normal 😊

Unfortunately not yet gluten free as won't be the easiest change for me at the moment!

If this pic is the same/similar to the iron supplement you are taking, I won’t be surprised that your numbers are not improving.

There is not enough iron to help just about anyone. Plus there are some other things in there that you should not be taking without understanding the way it all works together… but the amounts are so low I think it’s more a concern of wasting money than doing any harm. (?)

You should not be supplementing iron without a full iron panel. Have you had one of these recently?

Fero capsules

HelloYes, they are the ones. I have had iron panel and it is normal. GP has today prescribed iron tablets so hopefully they help 😊

no worries, I’m assuming they’re just gonna have you increase to 75 mcg :)

That is exactly what they have done and prescribed iron tablets 😊
