Fine tuning dose.

Hi all,

I've been feeling a bit 'meh' recently and after a recent blood test I'm wondering if I'm slightly overmedicated.

Could also be HRT needs to settle. I can't decide so thought I'd ask the hive mind. :)

4th Nov - started HRT; 200mcg progesterone & 50mcg oestrogen.

26th Feb: 200 progesterone & 75 mcg oestrogen (increased myself because vaso motor symptoms returned) Consultant added 'tiny pump' of testosterone every other day too.

6th May: 200 progesterone & 100mcg oestrogen (again, increased myself because the OCD is coming back.)

I've been on 150mcg level and 30mcg T3 since 4th November, so a solid 6 months.

A couple of weeks ago I also switched my schedule from 75levo & 15T3 at 7:30&2:30 to100/20 and 50/10 so maybe it's just that?

Started taking supplements again after a sabbatical from them 😂 simply because I'm feeling so blah. I've got an iron test and female hormones test on the way to see if that sheds some light.

I'd be grateful for some input!

Witchy x

Edit: to add results!

I would test vitamin D, folate and B12 too

Assuming vitamin levels optimal

Then possibly consider reducing T3 by 5mcg

Retest 10-12 weeks later

What sort of meh?

The last thyroid blood tests don't look overmedicated to me but you have done quite. a bit of switching around recently so it will make a cause hard to work out.

Meh is in lack of energy and motivation. Being unable to wake up in the morning. I'm just knackered all the time.

And I did have a great phase about 2/3 months ago where I was getting up at 6 and walking the dog every morning so something's gone awry. I'm struggling to wake up for 8 despite being struck about a 10pm bedtime.

Progesterone in the form of Utrogestan did that to me (and worse- felt like a zombie, could not bring myself to do anything but doom scroll) but I would not think your thyroid levels would. However, the Utrogestan intolerance started quite quickly after beginning it - week or two. A different form of progesterone can fix that.

Going to be hard to tell from the changes at once so I would not change your thyroid meds again just yet if you can bear it.

I would suggest looking at the Menopause Matters forum ( like this for HRT etc) and reading the posts there on utrogestan intolerance (assuming that is what you use).

Maybe think about checking cortisol.
