Thank you. 20mcg tablets are the same as April, when they went up by nearly 50%.
I asked (on Twitter/X) a pharmacist who is often on there if you knew the reason for the huge increase. He said "Not aware of any specific reason but prices of lots of generic medicines hugely volatile at the minute. A low use drug like liothyronine may only have a handful of manufacturers, one withdrawing from the market could cause massive disruption."
My guess is that the price had been based on Strides 20microgram tablets being available. However, I think there are issues there (no idea what) so that low price has been taken out of the calculation of the NHS tariff price.
The tariff had been in the low £40s for many months, so seeing a sudden 50% increase seems very odd. And worrying. The last thing we want is to be told again that it's very expensive.
Something changed on 15/03/2024 - but am utterly perplexed and confused why it didn't have a price until then???
