Hi guys, sorry that heading isnt very good , not sure what to put on it.
So I previously had an enlarged 2.6cm benign Nodule (after Biopsy), along with another 3 on both sides on my thyroids. They said my thyroid function was fine.
I am due to get bloods done again in 3 weeks.
I have done a month of vit D , month of B12, first active iron 25mg, still on it and 2 weeks of b complex but had to come off it for reasons of mad flushes due to niacin and crazy weight gain, restless legs, insomnia and anxiousness.
The reason I am posting is for the past 2 weeks I have a very sore throat in same region I had the enlarged nodule. Very sore, felt like chest infection too, dry coughing with some phlegm.
I guess am a bit worried that its something to do with the nodule...or maybe its just flu. I have no faith in doctors anymore to be honest. Any ideas welcome.
Thanks for reading

It’s possible that nodule swelling is causing physical compression pain but often it’s thyroid levels that the root cause of issues.
Do you ever have swallowing issues, eg choking ? this can contribute to feeling of phlegm build up, but abnormal levels can also result in reflux for example & that can cause similar feeling.
Re-testing levels include key nutrients, as well as function good idea. Your results posted a month ago showed a higher TSH than normal, but still within range. Your frees (FT4 & FT3) were actually quite high with-in range.
TPO was negative but TG wasn’t tested, so testing that might be worth while.
I'm still no clearer as to why I had this large nodule . I just find the doc and endocrinologist absolutely useless and so unhelpful. I know I'm not alone here.
I had to fight 2 days ago to have my bloods rechecked and to have a FULL panel thyroid check. She said there was no point in checking tpo.
If tsh is high does that mean hypo or hyper...?
Yes I feel like there's a lump in my throat when I swallow, uncomfortable, sure I will see what the bloods say in 3 weeks time.
Thanks again, I appreciate you response this sat afternoon,
With hypo the TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) from pituitary rises to stimulate thyroid. The Frees (FT4 & FT3) are low.
With hyper the TSH drops, to signal that the levels are high enough & reduce production.
I have a 5cm hyper (toxic) nodule. First the TSH dropped to undetectable levels. Then it caused a gradual elevation in FT3 1st, then FT4.
Mine isn’t autoimmune but with autoimmune (or additional autoimmune) the fluctuations can cause unusual results as the TSH is try to catching up with changing levels. TSH can take time to adjust and can be unreliable for other reason to eg sluggish due to low nutrients.
I had nasal endoscopy to assess minor swallowing issue & even though my nodule is 5cm they concluded it wasn’t too squashed in there. It settled with treatment to bring levels into range.

I'm glad the treatment settled it for you. the nodules can be annoying for sure,
