I have hypothyroid for last 7 yrs and it needs regular checks as fluctuates to high Tsh and then can be low tsh so often my levo dose is altered. Im currently on 75mg and Tsh 1.3.Ive got swelling in neck that cones and goes and although in range i still get cold intolerance weight gain and fatigue. Just had a test for TPO antibodies and has come back 86.0. And thyroid receptor antibodies are 1.1 UL.
Any thoughts plz ?

Well Jen, whoever is dosing by TSH is doing you no favours....but that seems to be the NHS choice and it's a poor one.
For a start TSH fluctuates throughout the day so result will depend on when test was done....highest around 9am
"In range" is only part of the issue...we aim to find the exact spot in the range where symptoms are resolved.....and that refers to FT4 and FT3.
FT3 is the most important number followed by FT4 ....using TSH is a lazy and wrong method...so we are up against it from the start
You sound undermedicated ....your symptoms underline this...tick yours off in these lists and stick that under your GP's nose!! They are supposed to include symptoms in diagnoses
Can you post any other labs you have including reference ranges ( numbers in brackets.
After 7 years if you hsve not recovered your GP should be testing your Frees....and using some professional judgement....not just unreliable TSH markers.
Speak to your GP again, ask to be given an increase to 100mcg levo, wait 6 weeks and test again at 9am, an hour away from food and drinks and 24 hours after last dose of levo.....if you can twist their arm to add FT4 so much tne better....plus FT3 ideal!
