Help with T3

I would really appreciate some advice please. I have included my original post below.

So last week I went to see another Endocrinologist, they confirmed what I was told by the first Endocrinologist who I saw earlier that week - basically as my TSH levels are within range, I did not need an increase in my Thyroxine. I asked about my T3 being tested and they said that this was only present in overactive thyroids. I am feeling really rubbish and as below, have all of the symptoms that I had prior to being told that I have an underactive thyroid which was 3 years ago.

I am going for an ultrasound on my thyroid on Friday and have been given high dose vitamin D, plus a folic and vitamin D prescription (I am in Spain at the moment).

I would really appreciate any advice as I am in bed at the moment as I am so exhausted.

May thanks

Original post -

Hello. I posted on here last week looking some advice on my latest blood tests. I have had and underactve thyroid for almost 3 years but have been experiencing all of the symptoms that I had prior to being diagnosed (and taking Thyroxine - I have always been on 50mg).

I have just received blood results due to feeling unwell and although my TSH reading is within range at 1.70mU/L, my TPO level came back as just over 600 Ul/mL.

i have seen an Endocrinologist today who has said that I don't need to increase my Thyroxine tablet as my TSH levels are in range but the problem is the TPO levels - he suspects Hashimoto’s and said that I will need an ultrasound to see why my levels are so high. I am really worried when anyone mentions an ultrasound.

I also asked whether there are any vitamins that I can take, he has prescribed a high level Vitamin D tablet as my Homocysteine levels were also triple what they should be. He has advised to take the tablet weekly.

Any advice and reassurance would be really helpful. Thank you.

Flo1000 you really need to post all your results here. TSH, FT4 and FT3 are needed to give the best possible advice. If you don’t have those from your health practitioner, you will need to think about getting a private blood test. You cant tell much from TSH.

Some of the testing companies give a discount of 10% (sometimes more) if you use the code from ThyroidUK.

So is your thyroid care in Spain or the UK because we mainly advise people in the UK and know what is available here?

You had a lot of good advice here: healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Raised homocysteine is often due to low B vitamins. Do you have any vitamin blood results you can share with us?

Are you able to get more than a TSH thyroid test - FT4 & FT3, perhaps privately?

You need blood results for ferritin, folate, B12 & D3.

Can you try a GP or equivalent for a raise in Levo? 50mcgs is just a starter dose.

As per my replies in both your previous posts

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

You need to get vitamin levels OPTIMAL

What were B12, folate and ferritin results

Just test TSH is completely inadequate

Are you in U.K. or Spain

You need to test TSH, Ft4 and Ft3 together

Test early morning and last dose Levo 24 hours before test

Have you had coeliac test yet
