When to take iron with T3 multi-dosing.

I'm writing this post again as I didn't get many replies and my private Dr hasn't replied.

I'm trying to work out when to fit in taking iron (Three arrows) with my T3 doses. I am taking T3 as per my private Dr's schedule which is 3 times per day and 6-7 hours apart.

I'm wondering whether to switch to x2 per day or can I close the gap and make it shorter than 6 hours and then take iron before bed?

Unfortunately I can't move the 1st dose any earlier because I don't wake up before then.

This is my current schedule. Would anyone like to re-write it to fit in iron? No problems taking iron before bed as it's heme iron. Thank you

9-9.30 am: T3

3-3.30 pm: T3

9- 9.30 pm: T3

Have you had blood tests for iron levels?

Yes Im monitoring it and have been since last year.

Would you mind adding your levels PS ((with ranges)

Yes any reason why? I've researched it loads and know what I'm doing.

Just wondering as my question is about when to take iron not whether to take it/what dose? I'm too overwhelmed for people to comment on my results. You get so many different opinions- no-one agrees on anything ie take iron at this level, don't ever take iron, use this iron measure to decide if you need iron. I'm confident with the approach I'm doing but there will be people who disagree which I can't handle.

People will always have different views and opinions on forums and also most people recognise that not ‘one size fits all!’

All Im asking is what your tests results are.

That's fine I just cant handle going off topic from my original question as I'm very overwhelmed.

Most people on this forum are overwhelmed PS. You’ll never get the same answers or even know if they’re the right ones!

As some smart arse hospital doctor said to me yesterday when I queried conflicting diagnoses:

Ask 13 doctors the same question and you’ll get 13 different answers.

Not very inspiring is it?

Ferritin 101 ug/L (30-250) (It was 30)

Iron 25 umol/L(9-30)

Transferrin 1.99 g/L (1.80-3.82)

Transferrin saturation index 48 % (15-50)

I didn’t say you didn’t. Just interested in what tests you’ve run and results (for my own benefit really)

If its for your own benefit thats fine! Happy to help.

Found what I need to know now from your previous post

Just looked back through your previous posts and it would seem that you’re taking Three Arrows Bovine Iron. I’ve linked it below.

The link below talks about testing and gives ranges which you obviously know about.

That’s all I wanted to know.

I don't think you're going to get any better answers now than you did on your last post. And I think the best reply came from Chunipet. Your endo, who told you to take it they way you're taking it may think that's the best way to take it but he doesn't really know. He's just pretending he does. He doesn't allow for the fact that we're all different with different needs. And we all have to find what we need by trial and error. Dosing twice a day may be perfectly adequate for you. Dosing once a day is the right thing for me. If a doctor told me I should be splitting it into three, I'd just ignore him and do my own thing. So, you probably should be experimenting to find what's best for you. The possibilities are numerous. There's never just one way to do it. But, to start off, I would suggest you do it the way Chunipet suggested - just for starters and see how it goes. :)

Hi thanks for your reply. I just re-read Chunipet's reply. Could you tell me how I would change my timings to do Chunipet's suggestion?

Just change them, I would: your way one day, here way the next. There's not a huge difference. And there really aren't protocols for everything. You just have to use your commone sense. :)

so your Ferritin is now good at 101

You should be looking to reduce to a maintenance dose

T3 multi doses

Put alarm on …..take first dose T3 at 6am

Go back to sleep

Move last dose to nearer 11pm

3 doses at 8 hour intervals

Thank you for your suggestion.Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to do the 6am alarm.

Easy to go back to sleep after taking T3 at 6am

Just wear a watch that vibrates…..wakes you, but no one else

Unfortunately I have health issues which mean I couldn't wake up at 6am every day and make myself take something.

if you want a 4 hr gap and 3 doses T3 then you'll have to move one of the T3 doses to earlier or later ,

just pick the one you are prepared to move and take the iron in between .

if you aren't able to move any of the T3 doses and you want to take iron , then you'll have to have a gap that is a bit less than 4 hrs.

Unless you know a way of stretching time, those are your options.

Not what you're looking for?
