Poured my heart out (via the online form) with my local GP Surgery today and received a text response saying need to re-do bloods, so I booked this soonest I could get (2 and half week for just appointment with phlebotomist) so no doubt pending results would be looking at a further 2-3 weeks to then get an appointment to discuss these.
I just get a gut feeling I probably wont get anywhere with them regardless of the results I feel even if they are out of range again it will be shrugged off as oh well its only a bit out lets watch and see test again etc etc
I did included all the research and info I found about TSH /TPO and the increase in miscarriage and presented this to them. but no comment just need to re-do bloods...
My question is, how does the private system work? I downloaded the list but couldn't find any in my area, are there any good online consultation services people would recommend?
My Dad has kindly offered to pay for a private consultation with a Nuffield GP, is this worth considering (obviously they are not an Endocrinologist) or would I be better off persevering with NHS GP
Thank you

I would suggest going for a private endo consultant. Do your research looking for a good one. I booked a private endo via spire healthcare, they also happen to work in the nhs as well as privately, which I thought would help my case in the future if I decide I want to pursue it with the nhs. The private endo is only dealing with my thyroid, everything else is still nhs GP. The private endo gave me my liothyronine prescription, while I still get my levothyroxine through my nhs gp. The private endo asked if I wanted them to contact my gp to explain things, but I said no (I might change my mind going forward). All in all I think my gp is simply relieved I'm no longer conplaining to him about my thyroid. My initial appointment cost £225, then going forward its an annual appointment of about £150 I think. Hope this helps
Thanks for this very helpful, I’m just having a look at Spire website, just a quick question did you need a referral to see the Spire Endo? Or can anyone just book an apt ?
No referral needed. Just booked the appointment direct. It was an endo on the thyroiduk list, and I heard from a couple of people that they were open to t3 prescribing. It was a breath of fresh air to actually be listened to. I took along all my test results to speed things along.
Medichecks and BH also offer private blood draw at clinic near you, or private nurse to your own home…..for an extra fee
What, if any vitamin supplements are you taking
Come back with new post once you get results
Here’s link for how to request Thyroid U.K.list of private Doctors emailed to you, but within the email a link to download list of recommended thyroid specialist endocrinologists who will prescribe T3
Ideally choose an endocrinologist to see privately initially and who also does NHS consultations
I decided on a private only endocrinologist. He does zoom, telephone and face to face. So no need to travel at all. All you need is a gp referral letter and your latest bloods. Get your bloods TSH t4 and t3 through monitor my health cheaply on line. The NHS is pretty bad when it comes to the thyroid and treating you optimally. You could also get your vitamins b12, ferritin, folate and D checked too. Oh and get your cholesterol checked also.
If you’d like details of my private Endo just private message me.
