Where can I get a blood test for 15 year old please 🙏

I have Hashimotos myself and I would like to get my daughter tested also plus her key vitamins as her periods are heavy at the moment and lasting 7 days so her iron could be low .

I could try GP but doubt they will check everything !

Blue Horizon will test under 18’s

But suggest you try GP first. Request they test her for autoimmune thyroid disease including thyroid antibodies and full iron panel test for anaemia, plus B12, folate and vitamin D

For full Thyroid evaluation she needs TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested

Also both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once

Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

About 90% of primary hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease, usually diagnosed by high TPO and/or high TG thyroid antibodies

Significant minority of Hashimoto’s patients only have high TG antibodies (thyroglobulin)

Low vitamin levels are extremely common when hypothyroid, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Blue horizon will test under 18s BUT you have to get bloods drawn at a specific London clinic

Yep, I would like to get my 16 year old checked, but we're in Scotland. Haven't managed to find a suitable alternative so will be following this with interest.

Wow , we’re in Shropshire so London would be hours away then with Horizon , I’ll do some online research and see of other places offering testing for under 18’s

I may get lucky though with GP x
