Please could you advise me if it is OK to take Homocystix Plus as a B supplement? I have been taking Thorne Basic Plus and Nature's Best Vit B 12. However Vit B12 now over 500.
I started flushing more and think I'm developing Rosacea . Looked online and found Niacin can be a factor in flushing. Also the B supplement seemed to cause more frequent urination.
On the very helpful B supplement chart Homocystix Plus does not contain Niacin. But does have other B bits. I'm wondering if this is a safe supplement to take when on Levo ( no thyroid)and also on alfacalcidol for hypoparathyroidism.
Thank you .

hi Shellian. I don’t take any other supplements or vitamins and I have been hypothyroid for 30 years. Best to check with your Endo before taking anything other than Levo.
I’m Hyperparathyroid and am waiting for op to remove 2 glands so cant help with hypoparathyroidism, sorry.
With regards B12 I have 3 monthly injections. Have you asked your GP if they will do them for you. They will then keep an eye on B12 levels. But I wouldn’t worry too much at above 500. I’m 638 and previous months were 1476 and before that 700. I was told that any excess would not be absorbed by my body.
Thank you. Maybe now my B12 is above 500 I don't need B vitamin supplements. Good luck with your op. I find the hypoparathyroidism is the thing that causes me most symptoms although it is difficult to unravel sometimes!
Yes it certainly complicates an already complicated thyroid condition. I was lucky to have a great NHS Endo who knew how to diagnose Hyperparathyroidism. Apparently they are thin on the ground. But he was too good and is now a private consultant in Saudi Arabia. Can’t say I blame him but it’s just a little bit too far to go see him! 🤣🤣
That's the problem because hypo or hyper parathyroidism is rare it is difficult to find a good endo who knows enough about it. The two who I've had who were good have retired early! My current one is a diabetes specialist. I rely on the MEN 2a ( the condition I have) support groups and info on Parathyroid uk.
