Help! Can't find a pharmacy that stocks Roma T3!

Lalacat profile image

I've been ringing around pharmacies in Stoke-on-Trent and no one stocks Roma Pharmaceuticals T3, nor can they order it from their wholesalers! Are there any NHS online pharmacies that stock them?

If there aren't any, I'm back to ordering Mexican Cynomel. Is there anyone that has recently ordered from the usual avenues, and found them to be still good?

If so, please DM me per site protocol.

Thank you!

What dose 5mcg, 10mcg or 20mcg Roma

If 20mcg ……you could get 20mcg tablets instead

Teva - lactose free

Mercury Pharma or Morningside

list of online pharmacies

Unfortunately I have numerous side effects caused by tablet fillers. That's why I'm asking specifically for Roma capsules.Thank you for the list of pharmacies!

You could get in touch with Springfield pharmacy, Surrey. They are listed on the Thyroid uk list of pharmacies. I couldn't get hold of Morningside T3, emailed Springfield and they were able to get it. I will now use them for my T3 prescriptions. They specialise in Thyroid medications so hopefully they can help. Just ring or email them.

Thank you Sparkly! I'll be emailing a few places on the list SlowDragon gave me, but recommendations are gladly received!

Do you know if Springfield would accept a white hospital NHS prescription, if my endo won't prescribe an SP10 green prescription?

Don't worry if you don't know, I'll ask them in the email about it tomorrow.

I'm not sure anyone stocks them they would need to be ordered in for you only takes a couple of days, I've not had any issues getting the 5mcg... they do all tend to act a bit dumb the PL49578/0018 might help if it's 5mcg you are after?

If they put in Liothyronine Capsules it will only offer them Roma

I'm after 20mcg and 10mcg caps. Hopefully the list of online pharmacies given to me will bare fruit!

In case it helps, these are the product licence and PIP codes:

Dosage 10 microgram

PL 49578-0019

PIP 125-2097

Dosage 20 microgram

PL 49578-0020

PIP 125-2105

Just had an email from Springfield Pharmacy and they can get Roma for me, YAY! They are asking for (in their words) :

'Please email us a copy of the token showing the serial number.'

What does this mean? Do they mean the PL & PIP codes for each size?

Also I have a PL code for 5mcg (supplied by TiggerMe) but not the PIP code. Have you got this number?

Thank you for all your help!

The token is effectively a copy / identifier for you prescription.

I've never used one but I think that if a prescription is sent electronically to a pharmacy, and they cannot dispense, they can give you the token. But lack of experience makes it difficult to say more.

Thank you. It's all new to me too! I haven't got the prescription yet, and it is coming from my endo, so I'm hoping he can issue an SP10 green prescription. From what I recall from my phone appointment, I'm sure he said he couldn't issue a Green prescription, only a white hospital one (These can't be sent electronically to a community pharmacy). So I could still not be able to get a prescription!

Too many hoops to jump through!

I have never had a white prescription but I think that might be an issue.

The endo basically hasn't got a budget so the pharmacy won't get paid. Or at least, that is what appears to be the case from a wander round searching...

Is it intended to be used at the hospital dispensary?

Lalacat profile image
Lalacat in reply toTiggerMe

No, I rang the hospital dispensary to see if they had Roma, all they have is Mercury. They had a look through their wholesalers and they said they couldn't even get Roma ordered. They even took my phone number and said they would try to help me, but they never rang back. Absolutely useless.

Just found out it's an FP10 green prescription not an SP10 green prescription as the hospital dispensary called it!Also found out that if you are issued a white prescription and you can't get to the hospital dispensary, your GP can convert it to a green one. Only trouble is, is that my GP has refused to give me a T3 prescription when the endo asked him to!

I am being blocked at every turn it seems, but I will be asking the endo again, in writing, if he can issue a Green prescription.

This information is in my medicines document!

helvella's medicines documents (UK and Rest of the World) can be found here:

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines

helvella has created, and tries to maintain, documents containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world. There is now a specific world desiccated thyroid document.

I highly recommend viewing on a computer screen, or a decent sized tablet, rather than a phone. Even I find it less than satisfactory trying to view them on my phone.

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines - UK

The UK document contains up-to-date versions of the Summary Matrixes for levothyroxine tablets, oral solutions and also liothyronine available in the UK. Includes descriptions of tablet markings which allow identification. Latest updates include all declared ingredients for all UK products and links to Patient Information Leaflets, etc.

helvella - World Desiccated Thyroid

Contains details of all known desiccated thyroid products.

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines - RotW

Contains details of all levothyroxine, liothyronine and combination products - excluding desiccated thyroid products. Details available vary by country and manufacturer.

The link below takes you to a blog page which has direct links to the documents from Dropbox and QR codes to make it easy to access from phones. You will have to scroll down or up to find the link to the document you want.
