Flaxseed is mildly goitrogenic it is ( high in soluble fibre) and in lignans that contain phytoestrogens (a plant mimic of oestrogen).
I don't know the science, but it might be reasonable to "assume" that if the body is getting a load (probably too much) of phytoestrogens, then the natural production from our sex hormone glands will down-grade aka "Why have a dog and bark yourself"! or the dog is still barking normally but can't be heard because it's a mimic and not the real deal.
I love the taste of freshly ground flax seeds and for a long time made a mix with ground walnuts and almonds and mixed it with a fresh apple, and some Greek yoghurt. Flax grows wild where I live and has a beautiful pale blue flowers.
(If using the oil it is very important that is purchased from a refrigerated source and sold in a dark bottle.)
