Thyroid, HRT

2 weeks ago I rang my GP in desperation, I told him I can't go on feeling like this, I asked to try HRT again, he asked what levo I was on was it 100mg, I said no I had increased it, he said he could stop my medication if I was increasing it without him saying I could. He wanted another blood test and said after the blood test results I can go and see the other GP and discuss HRT.

This morning 9 am I went for my blood test, no levo this morning, b complex stopped a week ago, taken folate.

I asked blood technician if TSH, T3 and T4 were all being tested she said only TSH, I went to reception to ask for the T3 and T4 to be tested, I was told they have a new system and its a thyroid panel test and it tests TSH, T3 and T4 now if this is correct I think my GP surgery is doing well as I know lots of you have difficulty getting thecT3 and T4 tested at your GP surgery.

Palpitations are really bad, head is buzzing, been having headaches as well, can't think straight.

Lets see what GP says when blood results are back, hopefully end of the week.

🤞FT3 and FT4 will also be tested as many GPs will only test one/ both of these if TSH not in range. It’s definitely a postcode lottery.

Those symptoms could be due to overmedicating.

Do you think I might be taking to much levo? I will wait for the blood test results before I do anything with my levo medication.

Definitely wait until after you have the results before adjusting any dose.

When was last time you tested key thyroid vitamins (ferritin, folate, B12, vit D). Having these optimal supports thyroid health.

The blood test I had on Monday is testing B12 and folate, vitamin D was done on my ladt private test about 7th January 2024

my Gp says the same, nhs labs will only do the TSH test for thyroid now. I was not happy. So I will await and see what it says,. If I’m not happy I will have to pay for a full T4 & T3 blood test myself.

So I got fobbed of by my GP surgery, they didn't do the T3 and T4 they said they would do, got my results yesterday and I wasn't happy it hadn't been done, should have paid for one instead.

To help bolster your argument for HRT have you looked at the info on the Newson Clinic website? Not everything can be put down to thyroid, though when we have that to consider it can definitely be hard to unpick symptoms.

Thank-you, I will take a look at the website.

It’s possible. Its easily done. Try to keep an open mind and post your results when you have them.
