Good Morning All

Further to my last post when it was suggested that my Folate levels were on the low side I have since been supplementing with an additional 400 daily in adition to the folate in my B Complex capsule - making a daily Folate intake of 800.

My GP has just ordered BT for Vitamin D and Magnesium and the results are now in so I would be grateful for you advice on these please.

All marked Normal NFA

Vitamin D - 96.3mmol/L - (> 50 sufficient )

Serum Magnesium Level

0.83 mmol/L (0.7 - 1.1)

Very many thanks

Your vitamin D result is good so keep taking whatever supplement you are. Optimal is said to be around 100-150 and you are close enough to that level.

Magnesium can really only be seen as a guide and is not always accurate. See link for explanation. medichecks.com/blogs/news/d...

Many thanks Jaydee - for Vit D - I am taking 1000u per day as prescribed by my Rheumatologist

With regard to the Magnesium level - I have just seen the following in the notes that you have included -

Studies have shown that magnesium levels at the lower end of normal may actually mask a true deficiency, known as chronic latent magnesium deficiency. For this reason, some labs suggest a lower cut-off 0.85 mmol/L.

On this basis should I add in a further magnesium suppliment ?

I am still suffering ongoing fatigue and weakness as well as disorientation and palpitations - which is why my GP was checking my Vitamin levels so any further comments or advice will be much appreciated please.

Thankyou

It wouldn't hurt to add in some magnesium but be sure to take it 2 hours away from Levo or anything else as it can affect absorption of other things.

Have you ever had an FT3 test in ny of your thyroid results? Suggest you get some private bloods run to see if you are converting.

See link for companies offering private blood tests & discount codes, some offer a blood draw service at an extra cost.thyroiduk.org/testing/priva...

There is also a new company offering walk in (includes free blood draw) & mail order blood tests in London, Kent, Sussex & Surrey areas. Check to see if there is a blood test company near you. onedaytests.com/products/ul...

Only do private tests on a Monday or Tuesday to avoid postal delays.

Thank you Jaydee -

I have done Medichecks tests before and would have written a post at that time - but at that time my T3 was as follows -

10/1/23 5.87 (3.1 - 6.8)

11/8/23 6.4 (3.1 - 6.8)

I do have a Private NHS test to use for TSH T4 and T3 and will get this done - but was hoping that the Vit test would have shown something up first - but clearly not.

Still SI B12 EOD -

Hope this helps

Yor FT4 was on the low side - less than 50% on a fairly recent test.

Looks like you are converting at least.
