Another update - salivary cortisol and more thoughts on what's going on

Hey everyone,

My salivary cortisol came back few days ago, much improved. I wanted to check what impact additional 7.5 mcg t3 had on my saliva cortisol levels.

My morning cortisol increased from 7 to 58%

My afternoon cortisol went from 9 to 57%.

My evening cortisol went from 59% to 115%.

Concerned about that, because I started to cry in the evening and had panic attacks.

For reference, my ft3 was top of range. I felt peaks and throughs of this t3 a lot, very hypo and hyper multiple times a day.

Based on the fact that my adrenals are actually working and pituitary actually responding to thyroid medication, I don't think I want to take HC.

I have taken HC for about a week now and haven't noticed much. I have also lowered that added t3, because I wasn't feeling good with all those peaks and throughs.

I am not saying no to taking more t3, I just need to think how to do this all properly. Maybe I need split Armour too as I noticed I get fatigued towards the evening a lot.

I am also due a pituitary MRI to see of anything is abnormal there.

So far it is looking like being hypo causes my low libido (came back on more t3 trial recently, so no menopause), lowish estrogen, lowish iron, slightly over range glucose at 5.7-5.8, lowish in range sodium etc etc.

Hope this helps someone.

I think the jury is still out on saliva tests for many. It’s not easy is it?! Hope you work it out.

Too much cortisol at night can cause insomnia and possibly panic and/or anxiety. One experiment you could try is to change the time you take your T3, or perhaps split it and take small doses at different times during the day.

I think saliva cortisol tests are very helpful, but sadly I can't do them any more because I hardly produce any saliva. :(

HC is effectively you adding more cortisol. Perhaps experiment with the timing and dose of that too, but cautiously.

Thanks humanbean🤗saliva test was done before taking any HC, and HC was discontinued on Sunday after 6 days after I found out results of this salivary cortisol (while I'm still waiting for my endo to comment on this). My fatigue has emerged once again when I lowered Thybon by 5 mcg. But when taking 5 mcg T3 I was feeling weird peaks and throughs too.It is very complicated
