black eye : hi don’t know if it’s related but as... - Thyroid UK
black eye
Does it feel sore and bruised - as if you hit it? Or painless bruising?
Have a look here:

It is something that you need to check out if you have no explanation. Changes to coagulation can be significant. Sometimes they can be associated with inappropriate thyroid hormone levels but there are many other possibilities.
No I’ve just woke up with it not sore or anything x
The ink in my reply includes this advice:
A medical assessment is also indicated for:
Bruising that is more frequent or severe than normal
Bruising for no reason
While you could well be iron-deficient, I think what you really have to avoid are any assumptions. A blood test to check iron and platelets, etc., seems entirely reasonable. Get an appointment as soon as reasonable possible.
Hard to say, but one thought is whether you have had your iron and ferritin checked or if you’ve ever been iron anemic.
One reason behind unexplained bruises could be iron anemia.
The eye is more complex than a typical bruise on your arm, so there could be lots of other reasons.
But maybe see if you have other bruises you hadn’t noticed on other parts of your body, as for my daughter recently that was a symptom of low ferritin and iron.
Regards to iron, if you have a chance to check you will certainly want “iron” but also a must have is your ferritin.
Full iron panels usually include :
- Iron
- Total iron-binding capacity (TIBC)
- Transferrin saturation
- Ferritin
- High Sensitivity CRP (CRP-hs)
I hope you are doing well, let us know if you have any other questions !
Dear Bailey so sorry to hear. That must have given you a fright, I would suggest getting your blood pressure checked with gp because hypertension can cause the vessels on your eyes to strain, no harm to check platelets too just in case your blood is very thin? Ice in the meantime and definitely check with doc x
