Well after thinking I have now settled nicely on my new brand of thyroid tablets, just being to see optician due to blurry eyes, only to be told I have increased pressure in one eye ! Could need up as Glaucoma. I have read somewhere people being treated for thyroid problems ( I have no thyroid) can have eye problems greater risk of Glaucoma. Great all I need thought it was too good to be true to feel abit better. Anyone else suffer from eye problems?

Well yes - & no!

Firstly I think you may be thinking of TED - Thyroid Eye Disease which I know nothing about. But several times I have been told have High eye pressure by the Optician (Occular Hypertension ) and wanted them to refer me to Eye Clinic at the hospital. But, no , they did 3 tests on different days and the third one was within ok range. So no referal. Apparetly they went by best of 3. I also have dry eye but not bothering me at the moment. An older relative was told he had Glaucoma and had an agonising wait for Eye Hospital appointment - where he was told he hasn't got it!

ps

Have the blurry eyes cleared up. I didn't have symptoms - just the high pressure which self resolved. Have you been referred to Eye Clinic to get it checked out. Do you need drops?

I also have dry eyes, but have noticed problems with dry eyes and blurred vision since changing brand. Not being to any eye clinic yet, as just in the process of moving to northern Ireland from France so not had the time

Nellups,

Preservative-free eye drops should help with dry eyes until you can get to an eye clinic for a check up.

You say you have no thyroid, but prior to having it removed, were you hyper and did they diagnose Graves’ ?

Not as far as I know it was removed due to very large nodules

I would get your bloods checked first. Bring undermedicated can cause slack muscles so that can affect your eye sight

I thought the same when I get back from a weekend away, I’m going back to the doctors to see if he will do some bloods. Fingers crossed it’s a simple fix
