t3 blood test at gp

hi my gp practice has been kindly filling my medichecks container for t3 test when I get my tsh/t4 nhs test done. However now they’ve decided it’s not possible to do private tests. Has anyone taken their gp on over this. It seems crazy that for the 10 seconds it takes to fill one more container I now have to pay £35 and drive 11 miles to a clinic.

I’m fuming so haven’t written to them yet 🤣

I slip my private phial in as the health assistant has me tourniqueted up for NHS blood withdrawal explaining it’s for vitamin etc tests NHS won’t do…Takes 5secs!

Added on to a blood draw that is already being done, it seems rather less than supportive of their patients. (I can understand them not doing a special draw requiring a separate appointment, etc.)

Suggest you wait until you really are calm and write to the surgery. Put it to one side and re-read later. The best approach is almost certainly for you to write in the most civil and polite way possible.

Might not help at all - but you have to try!

"I'm trying to reduce my costs to the NHS and your esteemed and wonderful surgery." :-)

That’s not polite or civil… that’s crawling and you don’t need to do that either! 😂

Sometimes needs must and I'm pretty sure there is a devil in that driving seat. :-)

That’s unfortunate. I have been using NHS GP’s surgeries for years for my Medichecks. I used my new one last week. I’ve always paid £10 a time. Maybe offer to pay? Every GP practice is a separate business so maybe offering a payment would help. 🤞
