Quick helpful tip

I just thought I’d post a quick little tip for those of you that get “mind chatter” or “sh@t FM” as I call it. This helps me stop overthinking everything and relaxes me instantly. Try it and see how you get on.

Breathe in, then out ( just normal breath’s doesn’t matter if it’s in through your nose or mouth) and as you breathe out say in your head “think of nothing”. Keep doing it for as long as you like 🤷‍♀️It’s that simple.

I’ve tried this out on my friends and they are amazed 😳!

I have a history of anxiety (see bio) and use many types of relaxation techniques but this one is so simple and effective I now use it all the time so I thought I would share it.

Hope it helps

Sarah

I’m a big over thinker and have a tendency to ‘catastrophise’ if I don’t employ similar CBT techniques SarahJane1471.

I will certainly give this suggestion a go! 👍

Breathing tecniques are very underrated. I was taught the 7/11 method, breathe in for 7 seconds through your nose then exhale with pursed slightly open lips for 11. Doesnt have to be exact but the outer breath needs to be longer than the inhale. This is a good one if you're struggling with overthinking stuff in bed at night.

This changes the balance of gases in the body and helps calm the Amygdala, which helps with anxiety and relaxes us.

Another one the US marines use to increase focus and mental acuity is square breathing, exhale, breath in for a count of 4 seconds, hold for 4, exhale for 4 and hold for 4, then repeat.
