For several years, I’ve had numerous trips to the ER for what I thought was my heart. They always ran lots of tests, found nothing and told me it was anxiety. I just looked through all of my blood tests while hospitalized. Not once, did anyone check my thyroid. As you all are teaching me many new things, I’m realizing the antibodies were probably starting to elevate a long time ago. My TSH and ft4 were starting to look a little suspicious in November. Dr. thought it was a reaction to steroids from January until probably around early March. I spent those months in bed. I’m so thankful that I found this forum. Things are starting to make sense. It helps me get through each day. I do have days in bed, but not as bad as it was.
It DiD take a long time to get sick and I need to be patient as it’s going to take a long time to get well. I’m probably going to need reminders, as most of you already know. Bottom line is that I appreciate the help. I hope other newbies pay attention as we all proceed on this journey.

Wishing you well. I sometimes find I’m re learning the same things over and over! It’s easy to forget I’ve ‘been here before’ if something happens rarely.
What were your thyroid blood test results when diagnosed? It doesn't sound like thyroid medication has resulted in you being symptom free since you still have days in bed. Do you think something else is going on?
Gosh, my original diagnosis was at least 20-25 years ago. I’ve been diagnosed with Hashimoto. My blood work is improving, just not there yet. Hopefully, I’ll have another med change in the next few weeks. Going slow as I don’t respond well to medication. Thanks
Any chance of getting a copy of original blood tests from 20 years ago? If you've been on thyroxine that long and still not stabilised then it's possible something else may be wrong.
What was the evidence that diagnosed you with Hashimotos? Did you have an ultrasound? Have you got raised antibodies?
OK, so you mean that you were not taking thyroxine until recently as you did not develop thyroid dysfunction until recently even though you had antibodies? I hope you are soon right as rain.
