Refuse. He's dosing by the TSH, which is 100% wrong. Your FT4 is quite low - only 35.00% through the range, when it shouls be about 75%. So, you are definitely not over-medicated.

Who is it that uses the shoe analogy... you have size 6 feet and you're wearing size 3's!!

I believe it was Tattybogle who first used the shoe analogy - haven't seen her for quite a while - do you know if she is okay or not?

Refuse

Are you also taking any T3?

FT4: 13.9 pmol/l (Range 9 - 23)

Ft4 only 35.00% through range

FT3: 4.3 pmol/l (Range 2.4 - 6)

But Ft3 slightly better at 52.78% through range

Was test done as recommended

early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

ESSENTIAL to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

What vitamin supplements are you taking

You have Hashimoto’s

Are you on gluten free or dairy free diet

Guidelines of dose by weight suggests you need an INCREASE in dose

Low Ft4 also suggests increasing dose likely necessary

Thanks everyone, I'm going to have tests done privately to get proper accurate results

It is because your TSH is out of range - a number of us have had this issue. Just write back and say you need to take account of all results not just the TSH. As a precaution, it is helpful to get a reserve supply of Levothyroxine elsewhere, for instance if you are travelling abroad.

What amazes me about them is that they do not pick up on dangerous out of range results - just ones where they can reduce medication to save money it seems to me.

Note to GP -" I do not agree with your decision to drop my dose of Levothyroxine as the rest of the test results show I am actually underdosed. In line with the current medical research, I would therefore like to request an increase in dose."

He wont be up on the current research, and he wont bother to look. By asking for an increase, he may just leave you where you are. Good luck!
