Sorry, that's my mistake, it's helpful when you post to say your situation.
Reading blood results is a bit different if you're not diagnosed and on Levo. Definitely your thyroid is struggling, but as things stand you wouldn't be able to get an official diagnosis as doctors won't start treatment until your TSH is above 5 on 2 separate occassions (by their own tests, not privately). Try and restes at 9am fasting in 4 months.
Have you had a positive antibody test as that's anothe rindicator that your thyroid is an issue.
Got another 8 weeks on loading dose of vitamin d 👍🙂 doctor didn't seem to want to test vit b12 may get that privateWould that suggest thyroid hypo or hyper? Thank you x
Thank you so much for reply great help. Do you know if I did have auto immune thyroid would the loading dose vitamin D helps the vitamin D deficiency or would the thyroid need sorting first? Also do you know what my cause low ( high density lipoprotein)
ANA test is used to detect antibodies which if positive can sometimes (but not always) indicate autoimmune disease. I suspect GP ordered it to test for Lupus. It is not a test for specific thyroid antibodies- these can be tested separately and would be TPO and TG.
Do you think the fact that tsh 2.9 to 3.9 more of a sign of hypothyroidism. Worry abit where my HDL was low as well not sure how to help that 🙈 all so hard keep asking doctors xx
if both the TSH tests were taken at a similar time of day then yes , TSH rising from 2.9 - 3.9 could be a sign of hypothyroidism developing/ worsening ~ as a rising TSH trend indicates worsening / lowering T4 levels (it goes up to 'ask' your thyroid to make more thyroid hormone T4)
BUT if the 2.9 was taken in afternoon and 3.9 was taken early am then it may not 'really' be rising ( as the TSH has a circadian rhythm it is highest middle of the night and lowers throughout the day , until its lowest around12-3pm , then slowly rises again)
However 2. 9 / 3.9 are already a bit higher than 'most people' would have. it is most common for TSH to sit around 1 ish and much less common to have it around 3/4.
Diagnosis of hypothyroidism won't be considered unless it keeps going up though ... you need 2 TSH result that are over the lab range , (taken 3 months apart to rule out transient/ temporary raise) before NHS can diagnose and treat hypothyroidism .
Brilliant thank you so helpful 🤗 I will try and get another test so tricky when doctors tend to say all ok hate to keep bothering them
I feel like I have so many signs of hypothyroidism get cold easily cold hands and feet tired dry eyes . Doctor thought more towards lupus as get little rash on face and low vitamin D.
Could the low vitamin D have caused thyroiditis? Or is it thryroid problem cause low vitamin d
