Reading results help! Thank you!

Been having hypo symptoms for years and my Dr orders a blood test whenever I bring it up. Always comes back normal. After I asked for my results at the last test I realised they had only been testing tsh all this time. Refused full panel as tsh in normal range.

Ordered the blue horizon thyroid panel and it's come back within normal ranges. Apart from feeling exhausted and forgetful all the time and a list as long as your arm of typical hypothyroid symptoms, I'm having terrible what I can only describe as hypoglycemic 'events' that take me a few hours to feel better from. I don't have diabetes.

I'm seeing my dr next week and despite knowing she's unlikely to change her position (I'm healthy - the bloods say so)

I would like to know if I'm optimal or if medication or other changes are indicated in your opinion. (Will be upping my iron intake) I want to help myself feel better as my Dr ain't bothered!!!!

Thank you

I'm no expert but I would supplement the iron for 2 months and then retest Ferritin, TSH, Free T4 and Free T3.

I would hope to see the TSH come down a bit and Free T4 increase.

I feel bad with low B12. Try increasing this with sublingual methylcobalamin.

Go back and thrust these results under your DRs eyes.

Your ferritin is ridiculously low!! That needs investigating. Points to iron deficiency anaemia.

Yes that will be making you feel dreadful and giving you all your symptoms along with the low B12

Folate and Ferritin should be mid range.

B12 over 600 at least. Under 500 can start to cause neurological changes. GP proabably wont supplement so take yourself. Liquid or powdered forms are best.

Good luck.

When taking B12 recommended to also add good vitamin B complex too to keep all the B's balanced

Remember to stop taking vitamin B complex 4-5 days before any thyroid test as biotin in supplements can falsely affect results

You are also undermedicated! As a rough guide you need both FT3 and FT4 to be in the top third of their ranges or even in the top quarter. We also tend to few better when TSH is around 1 though TSH isn't thatcaccurate when we are taking medication.

Run off a copy of the following link for your GP. They have all been poorly trained in anything regarding dysfunctions of the thyroid gland.

Next, run off a copy of the next link:-

If we are on an optimum of hormones, we should have no clinical symptoms at all.

You can tell her you've taken advice from the NHS Choices for information and advice on dysfunctions of the Thyroid Gland, Healthunlocked Thyroiduk.org.uk.

All blood tests should be at the very earliest, fasting, and allow a gap of 24 hours between your last dose of levo and the test.

All minerals/vitamins should be at the optimum level and for B12 it should be 1,000 and you can supplment with B12 sublingual methylcobalamin. I've found Amazon have the best selection and the aim, to prevent dementia or other problems, is 1,000.

Others will respond on any others.

I am not medically qualified and have hypothyroidism.
