Covid sent me from managed hypo to hyper…

Hi all,

I had been on 60mcg T3 & 25mcg levo, 6mg LDN for two years, managed hypothyroidism.

Prior to this I presented with normal tsh, low T3, and normal T4.

Vit d, B12, Ferratin, Folate all normal.

I caught Covid in August and a week later started having severe symptoms of — insomnia, muscle cramps, muscle loss, heart palpitations, thinning of hair, confusion, pins and needles, severe anxiety and PMS. Drastic appetite changes/ cravings. Puffy face, and severe water retention. Terrible fatigue.

Up until that point my sleep had been great for a year and my PMS was non existent.

TSH suppressed, T4 low and T3 sky high — so my meds have been lowered to 40mcg T3, 25mcg levo and 6mg LDN.

My sleep is still not good at all and I’m suffering with anxiety/ depression. I have to wait another 4 weeks for bloods. PMS better this month but the fatigue was still very bad. I take melatonin at night, but currently this isn’t helping.

I’m a single parent, so this feels extremely hard.

Is it possible my meds are still too high?

Vit d, B12, Ferratin, Folate all normal.

Please add actual results

What vitamin supplements are you taking

What were TSH, Ft4 and Ft3 results on 60mcg T3 and 25mcg levothyroxine

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

On T3 - day before test split T3 as 2 or 3 smaller doses spread through the day with last dose 8-12 hours before test

Vit D — 88 (I’ve been supplemented with 12,000 IU since this and am waiting to repeat)

Ferratin — 123

Folate — 11.8

My endo told me to test after taking all meds, so that’s what I did… I haven’t ever tested as you have mentioned above. Thanks for the tip! I had taken full dose T3 3 hours before test.

T3. 6.5

T4 5.9

TSH — 0.01

I take the source of life liquid multi and cease it before testing because it has biotin in.

Also take two high strength omega 3 tabs per day, maybe threonate and magnesium glycinate. Plus Udo’s choice gold prebiotics.

Thanks,

Sarah

I had taken full dose T3 3 hours before test.

T3. 6.5

T4 5.9

TSH — 0.01

So probably didn’t need to reduce dose

And reducing by 20mcg per day was HUGE reduction

5mcg reduction should have been max reduction at any one time

I'm wondering if you could lower the LDN a little also as I thought max suggested dose is 4.5mgs? It has insomnia listed as a side effect

it actually helps my sleep :-) if I don’t take it, it’s worse. And my mood tanks. Initially I was on a lot lower, but I had high RT3 so he increased it.
