I had thyroid cancer so had mine removed. My food only goes down my right side of my pipe and my breathing pipe was damaged as well. I seem to get a lot of chest infections on my left side. I have a horse voice all the time. I have nodules on my lungs. I have other medical issues. I suffer from depression bad. Don’t smoke, drink or have never taken recreational drugs. I am so angry that I got cancer.

welcome to the forum

How much levothyroxine are you taking

Do you always get same brand levothyroxine at each prescription

ESSENTIAL to maintain optimal vitamin levels too

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Testing options and includes money off codes for private testing

Blue Horizon Thyroid Premium Gold includes antibodies, cortisol and vitamins

Only do private testing early Monday or Tuesday morning.

Welcome to the group.

I'm sorry you are having a bad time. It may be that we can help you if you could share with us your most recent blood results along with their reference ranges.

Doctors often leave people on not enough hormone and then people get low vitamin levels that make everything worse.

You are legally entitled to a printed copy of your results, ask at GP reception. In England you can get the NHS app and ask for permission to see your blood results on that by asking at GP’s reception.

It's ideal if you can always get the same brand of levo at every prescription. You can do this by getting GP to write the brand you prefer in the first line of the prescription. Many people find that different brands are not interchangeable.

Always take Levo on an empty stomach an hour away from food or caffeine containing drinks & other meds. Many people find taking it at bedtime works well for them.

When hypo we get low stomach acid which means we cannot absorb vitamins well from our food, regardless of a great diet. For thyroid hormone to work well we need OPTIMAL levels of vitamins. Have you recently or could you ask your GP to test levels of ferritin, folate, B12 & D3? Private tests are available, see link for companies offering private blood tests & discount codes, some offer a blood draw service at an extra cost.thyroiduk.org/testing/priva...

There is also a new company offering walk in (includes free blood draw) & mail order blood tests in London, Kent, Sussex & Surrey areas. Check to see if there is a blood test company near you. onedaytests.com/products/ul...

Only do private tests on a Monday or Tuesday to avoid postal delays.

I am sorry to hear such a list of problems and I have not heard of anyone suffering such damage from a Thyroidectomy, had the cancer spread and how long ago was your operation? You might have a look at the Butterfly Thyroid Cancer forum who specialise in thyroid cancer.

As other posts, optimising your hormones and vitamins is very important for your health. Are you on higher doses of Levothyroxine to suppress regrowth? Good levels of vitamins and iron all help with absorbtion and fighting off infections and depression.

Whilst lung nodules are quite common, in view of your history you should be under a team of specialists and regularly checked.

Good luck with it all.

I got the all clear January 2023 had my thyroids removed October and November 2021. Had a big lump on the side of my neck. They done baby scans on it. Eventually it moved to the middle of my throat and I started coughing up blood. A week later hospital rang and said we have a cancellation do you want to come in. They took my left out. I got called back 2 days earlier than my appointment so wasn’t worried. He said you surprised us all you’ve got cancer we have to take your other one out in 6 weeks. I had my bloods done 6 months ago for thyroid’s I am on 170. It needed to be put up at last appointment but he wouldn’t cause I lost 5Lb in 3 months. I had a bone marrow on the 6th Nov 2023 cause my white cells are so low. And won’t move. My papillary glands in my body come up quit a lot. I have scans on my lung every 6 months to see if they have changed.
