Just had an allergic reaction.

Burning mouth/tongue for a couple of days . Yesterday had uncomfortable feeling in the chest ( like when overmedicated) Burning seemed to worsen over a couple of hours and Tongue swollen and some difficulty in swallowing.

Not sure what had caused this so went to check my meds and noticed that I had started a new pack of Levo 4 days prior - This is when I noticed it was a diff Brand - read the leaflet and could see that severe allergic reaction to mannitol is possible.

Checked on HealthUnlocked and could see there is an issue with this Brand. I subsequently took antihistamine, nearly did a 111 call last night - now currently awaiting a call back from GP.

Please do put in a Yellow Card report - this sort of reaction is very much what should be reported.

Do you know which make(s) you have previously taken?

Here is a suggestion for keeping a record:

helvella - How to keep a history of medicines

A simple technique of recording what medicines (brand, dose, date, batch) you take.

My medicines documents show all available UK products. You might be able to identify what has been OK and request that. Teva is the only UK levothyroxine product which contains mannitol (though it is also packaged as Hillcross).

helvella's medicines documents (UK and Rest of the World) can be found here:

helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines

helvella has created, and tries to maintain, documents containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world.

This link takes you to a page which has direct links to the documents from Dropbox and Google Drive, and QR codes to make it easy to access from phones.

The UK document contains up-to-date versions of the Summary Matrix for tablets, oral solutions and liothyronine available in the UK.

I have been on Accord for years and had no problems.

The Teva was dispensed with no notification of the change and was dispensed as 3 x25 dose as Teva and my 100 does was still Accord. so mixed.
