You'd need to add the ranges as each lab differs 🤗

Are you taking levothyroxine? These results would be considered healthy for euthyroid

I’m on nothing. Not diagnosed

You aren't approaching menopause are you? As the others have said its worth checking mineral and vitamin levels as in many cases low B12/ iron can cause very similar symptoms to thyroid issues. Skipping meals could mean you are deficient in calories and nutrients.

What dose levothyroxine are you taking

Which brand of levothyroxine

Are are you also taking any T3 or NDT?

Test ideally a bit earlier in day

Was last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

When were vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin levels last tested

What vitamin supplements are you taking

I’m on nothing do I need to be?

No your results are very good

Why did you get tested?

Symptoms?

Get GP to test vitamin levels

Charliekilosierra profile image
Charliekilosierra in reply toSlowDragon

thanks. Loads of symptoms tbh

Aching joints

Cracking joints

Thinning hair

Scalloped tongue

Weight gain

Throat pain comes and goes

Excess saliva

Tiredness

Teeth clenching comes and goes

Palpitations

Hand and arm weakness comes and goes

SlowDragonAdministrator in reply toCharliekilosierra

scalloped tongue - common with low B12

Aching joints- low Vitamin D

Thinning hair - low iron/ferritin

What’s your diet like

Are you vegetarian or vegan

Get GP to test vitamin levels

NHS easy postal kit vitamin D test £31 via….just 4 drops required

vitamindtest.org.uk

Government recommends everyone in U.K. supplement vitamin D daily as minimum Oct - April

Many people need to supplement all year

Optimal vitamin levels

Vitamin D at least over 80nmol

Serum B12 over 500

Active B12 over 70 (private testing only)

Folate near top of range

Ferritin at least over 100…..as bloke ….nearer 200 may be better

Charliekilosierra in reply toSlowDragon

Cheers I’ll get a full vitamin test mate

SlowDragon profile image
SlowDragonAdministrator in reply toCharliekilosierra

GP should test B12, folate and iron/ferritin

They are usually opposed to testing Vitamin D, so test yourself

I was convinced it was thyroid

What’s your diet like?

We post multiple times a day on how thyroid and vitamin levels ALL need testing

Low vitamin levels cause multiple symptoms

Charliekilosierra in reply toSlowDragon

Yeh not the best I regularly skip meals at work tbh I could do better in that area

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested

Also both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once

Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum

About 90% of primary hypothyroidism is autoimmune thyroid disease, usually diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies

Autoimmune thyroid disease with goitre is Hashimoto’s

Autoimmune thyroid disease without goitre is Ord’s thyroiditis.

Both are autoimmune and generally called Hashimoto’s.

Hashimoto’s frequently starts with transient hyperthyroid type results and symptoms before becoming increasingly hypothyroid

Low vitamin levels are extremely common when hypothyroid, especially with autoimmune thyroid disease

20% of autoimmune thyroid patients never have high thyroid antibodies and ultrasound scan of thyroid can get diagnosis

In U.K. medics hardly ever refer to autoimmune thyroid disease as Hashimoto’s (or Ord’s thyroiditis)

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Your thyroid results look fine to me ( not a doctor!). Lots else you could look at e.g B12, vitamin d - both can go undiagnosed. Vit d is a simple blood test. B12 is trickier - MCV moving towards top of range is a strong indicator. Take a look at B12d.org website and PA page on this site

your thyroid looks great. Prob low B12 or maybe folate. Are you vegetarian?

if your planning testing b12 then better to not have any supplements of b12 for three months prior to test, no oral sublingual (under the tongue)or injections as it skews the results

Good luck

With no thyroid I would feel very well on your results, I think it's something else. Good Luck.

I was EVENTUALLY Diagnose with an overactive thyroid after going back and forth to my gp for over 12 months, prior to that my bloods were sent to an endo in 2014 in her report she noted I had on the bloods 2 set's.. 2 short suppressed thyroid stimulating hormone with normal T3 and an episode of thyroiditis, (possible subclinical HYPERthyroidism) recommend she as regular thyroid blood work up of thyroid function. My gp never did this.. 😠 after my diagnosis of hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid) I went on to be diagnosed with graves thyrotoxicosis, lost my thyroid in 2019.

This blood test you have just done, is one snap shot of how your bloods are that particular day, proper diagnosis should be either 2/3 blood pannles in succession, this being your first, i don't think it would harm you to wait another 7 wks and do another one, see if there's any difference in your levels.

I spoke to a very well informed parathyroid /thyroid surgeon privately he told me unfortunately the NHS do one set of bloods be it parathyroid or thyroid and think hey presto they are all in range so off you go.. But your still symptomatic, obviously it could be a deficiency in vits and minerals but it's not a bad idea to fully rule out a thyroid or parathyroid problem.. So I would do 3 blood pannles on you to assatain you levels... If they remain level all 3, then you can be assured you have no problem it's when they bounce out of range (catching them) then we can work with that.

I thank this surgeon for getting me to a good endocrinologist who has now diagnosed me with primary hyperparathyroidism, when 3 endocrinologists said I don't have it! 😠 because as the private parathyroid surgeon said, "They were doing sporadic testing... Not doing the 2 or 3 in succession.

I hope you can find out why your feeing so bad.. Hope this helps you❤️👍

Thanks for your great reply. I might just do that wait a couple of months and do another. I feel worse on an evening after a hard day at work tbh.
