free T3. 5.4. Range 3.50-6-50 63.3%

Free T4. 17.8. 10-20 78%

TSH. O.02

Could I ask you very knowledgeable people . ?

Are these results high enough through range.? I have been taken 125g thyroxine and 10mg of liotho for last 3 months. (Tests done as protocol used on this page), or would it be ok to up dosage a little . Still feeling quite tired, but don’t sleep well., so that could be the reason. Thank you for any help

Once you get close to optimal small tweaks are the key, those are pretty good results so now you really need to look at symptoms... not sleeping could point at a little too much or just bad dose timing?

What time of the day do you dose? I would suggest before altering dose perhaps have a try with timings and whether splitting doses or not suits you better...

Some people take a dose before bed to aid sleep and for others it keeps them up... it seems to depend on how quickly your body utilises the hormone

Finding optimal can mean a very small change 🤗

How are you other levels?... ferritin, folate, Vit D, B12 etc

Hi. Thanks for replying so quickly, unfortunately the sleeping problem isn’t a new one, I’ve struggled for many years. I take thyroxine in one dose on waking . Lipo 5mg,usually around breakfast time.,and 5mg evening meal time. I’m not sure if ferritin, folate was taken this time, results are coming through in dribs and drabs, but Vit D is 99.3. I do supplement with vit d & k2

Perhaps lets wait till all the results are in and see where you are...

How is your resting heart rate, BP and temperature, these can give a good insight into whether a little more or a little less is the way to go

Oh really i hadn’t realised that. Temperature when I lost did it , couple of days ago was 36.4. Blood pressure is 149/72. When i last had b12 results in May, it was 618, and folate was 23.2, but as I mentioned not sure whether these were tested this time . Resting heart rate is usually mid 60’s. Thanks again

Have you noticed the effect the various doses of T3/4 have on these?

If you tweak anything then worth checking these things to see if it's a favourable change or not

no I hadn’t even considered it to be a thing, I’ll look into doing that

Fine tuning is really down to you tuning in and getting a feel for these things and may highlight seasonal tweaks needed etc, blood test are only useful to a point....

It actually becomes intuitive once you pick up on your personal pointers 🤗

Ah ok. Don’t feel very confident, with T3. As I am self medicating with it after consultant told me it was doing no good and to stop taking it

What made him think that? Chances are he wasn't giving you enough of it 🙄

I'm assuming you feel better with it? Most of us tweak whether self medicating or under an often hopeless Endo 🙃

Luckily tweaking T3 is much easier to a degree as it very quickly lets you know when too little or too much whereas T4 is much longer

As there had not been a noticeable improvement with symptoms, he said he didn’t think I needed it all all!! 😟

Knowing what I know now, I would have lied if the main trajectory was towards improvement. Sounds like you had enough faith in the T3 to consider self medicating. When something is working, even if not fully, hang on to it.

was test done with last 5mcg dose 8-12 hours before test?

Suggest you try splitting T3

5mcg waking, 5mcg mid afternoon and after 3-4 weeks try adding extra 5mcg ……ideally at bedtime

Many people find T3 at bedtime improves sleep

If this doesn’t help improving sleep 😴…..Initially ….you may need to split at earlier times…..5mcg waking, 5mcg noon and 3rd dose 6pm

After few months you may be able to slowly creep doses later and later

Thank you I’ll try that. With my results it would be ok to up T3 a little then? Sorry if you received reply twice thought I’d sent a reply and now can’t see it ! 😟

bowel movements and temperature seem to be my warning signs, loose and hot feelings I’m a bit over, cold and constipated I’m a bit low. Tiny tiny differences in dose between the two. 🌱

R7vfmbroadway profile image
R7vfmbroadway in reply to SlowDragon

If I I remember correctly, it was a little over 12 hours

So you have room to increase T3

My FT3 has to be above 6 for me to feel well. Your may need to increase your T3 by a little.
