Hello again,
Im posting my results on a separate page as suggested and hope I write this clearly as I really need your insights. A bit of history - I have Hashimoto, and started with Thyroid-S October end last year. Prior to this, I was on 100 mcg levo for 11 years with t3 always being low and just getting stiffer and more bloated over the years. I had 7 rounds of ivf to have a live birth 5 years ago and since then dont feel great, nails wont grow etc and have tried every dr and naturopath, ayurveda,, homeopath under the sun. Experimenting with Thyroid-S, and reading Broda Barnes book and some others, ive finally come to understand that all my problems seem to be from to little of the right thyroid hormone all my life (high cholesterol at 19 and stomach/menstrual problems at 14). Ive taken my blood results in November 22 when I started NDT and in between and again in June 23, and they are across 3 countries - India, Dubai and Serbia so please bear with me. I can see a huge improvement on Thyroid-S in Cholesterol and my B and D vitamins seem to be fine, Im just suspecting that my Ferritin/Iron is low and causing me issues and that I went too high too fast, i.e. my doses on ndt where all erratic and ive been taking them with food and at different times. I now realise I need to stabilise them and take them at the same time very day. I had also tried a vegan cleanse diet from Jan 15th of this year until recently, October, and that seems to have done nothing for my thyroid although I worked with a naturopath. Im now adding more animal protein to my diet. So my results:
Nov. 4, 22 - when I first started NDT
Cholesterol 310 (way too high) (above 239 is high)
Glucose 98 mg/dl (70-100) - on higher side always when on t4
Magnesium 1.9 mg/dl (1.9-2.4) - this was on the lower side
vit B12 511 pg/ml (211-911)
vit D 42.6 ng/ml (30-100 suff)
copper 86.66 ng/dl 74-130
zinc 81.25 ng/dl (54-151)
Folate - didnt test
Iron 110 ng/ml (13-193)
Ferritin 46.0 ng/ml (13-150)
My TPO was above 1000 here and im not posting my thyroid as they were all fine.
I then tested my iron in Dubai in March 23 after 4 months on Thyroid-S and my Cholesterol had gone down to 188 (200 desirable) and my iron:
iron 50 ng/dl (50-270)
TIBC 295 ng/dl (240-450)
% transferin saturation 16.95% (16-50%)
I then tested in Belgrade in June
Glucose 5.0 (4.11-5.89) - this dropped nicely
TPO 549 - this dropped nicely
Tg A+ - 247
vit D - 112.1 nmol/L (75-250)
vit b12 405.9 pmol/L (138-652)
Folate 28.9 (7.0-39.7)
Ferritin 29.9 ng/ml (4.6-204)
Iron 16.8 nmol/L (5.8-34)
This seems to translate to iron 93.8 ng/dl
So my Ferritin dropped in 8 months from 46 to 30 ng/ml while my iron went down from 110 to 50 and then to 93.8. Every Dr that Ive been to said this is fine for iron. The question is - is it fine, or do I need to supplement, or do another iron test now?
My biggest problem has been my cortisol and the feeling of being “wired”. I measured my cortisol on the saliva test and my 3 first ones where very high and evening was fine:
8 am morning 32.2. (0-20.3)
noon 29 (0-20.3)
afternoon 19.6 (0-6.94)
evening 6.04 (0-6.94)
Would taking Holy Basil help and if yes how and when? I presume I need to stop all caffein (i have a coffee a day).
The mistake I have done is to be erratic with my doses and not consistent and taking them with food and at different times. If I understand now correctly I need to :
a) take them without food - one dose in the morning, one dose an hour after lunch? or 2 hours after lunch?
b) take them at the same time each day
c) start with 1 grain and then increase by a 1/4 every 10 days?
d) at which point do I wait for 6-8 weeks to test, at 1.5 or at 2?
I believe that Thyroid-S can work for me if I figure out how. I just left my t3/t4 combo this morning again after a week of feeling miserable and will try again with 1 grain to start. It may sound strange, but immediately my stomach feel better! Im also 48.5 and in pre menopause and the periods have been erratic or almost non-existent, this year only March and August (6 months apart for the first time) although that could also be the vegan diet, or age, so that doesn't make matters easier. Thank you for all your inputs and help.
